Going to see the g/f's homeland. Just in time for this fresh "travel alert". Awesome! What am I most concerned about, though? The three Airbuses I have to trust my life to! The first leg should be sweet, though -- triple 7!! I love that plane! If only the airlines of the world were made up of only Boeings...
trip 7's a nice ride. Paris is great - try to see the museum at LeBourget. World class. Despite popular sentiment, France is terrific. Have fun! Does she have an older sister?
My brother flew from ATL to CDG-Paris on Wednesday in a Delta A330...I guess he survived. I hate those planes.
I just recently returned from Paris for the 3rd time about a month ago. Took my girlfriend there for a nice vacation. Took a 737 (I believe) from Vancouver International, to Gatwick Airport, and then from there onto Fiumicino Airport. Still never gets old seeing the sights. You could go there 3, 4, 5 times and still not see everything, it truly is amazing. I'm sure you know all the hot spots and attractions so I won't bother to list those And the very next week we got back from our trip, the girlfriend ended things. hahaha
Mr C- Stay away from tourist areas frequented by Americans. With a French girlfriend guiding you, you should be able to find out of the way places to stay, eat, and visit that a terrorist would never think of attacking and that are more the real France. No sense doing a James Bond and making yourself miserable watching for bad guys. In my travels, I found drawing a 50 mile circle around Paris and staying outside it nearly guaranteed a great meal and extremely friendly people. But some people love Paris, so do your own thing. Airbusses suck, but the mathematical odds of anything going wrong are astronomical. If you fly intra-Europe, you are going to be stuck on them, just do not worry about it. Have a ball. I have had great times in France, usually by not planning much. Hard to get a bad meal over there and, outside Paris, wine and food are really inexpensive. Taz Terry Phillips
Impossible due to range constraints. Probably a 767....... Chupa....... Paris is a really cool city. You don't need to rent a car, just be able to read the subway map in order to get around.........and you'll definitely gain weight unless you have the metabolism of Superman. My traveller's tip.........don't inadvertantly get drunk on the delicious and cheap wine and then try to find your hotel at 100 AM if you are staying in the St. Germain district...........the road map for this trendy area looks like a pile of spaghetti when viewed from above. If you want to look like a local, buy a wool scarf, wear a sweater, tuck a copy of the Guardian newspaper under your arm and smoke a Gitane.
You speak not with forked tongue. I just finished talking to an airline pilot friend who flies what he calls, " Europlastic junk". His words, not mine. Switches
Paris is like my second home! Love Paris and love France - Even like the French... but they are like Liverot Cheese - they are an acquired taste! If you are in Paris, I have a couple of places for dinner: Le Taste Vin on ile St Louis - St. Louis en lile... about mid way down the island. Super food. Lim Korean BBQ up on Montmatre... forget the street. My favorite cafe's - Vauban across from Les Invalides, and this will sound touristy - Cafe Marly at the Louvre - great food if you can beleive it! Have fun... if you want GREAT food - Le Grand Veoufour@ palais Royal... superb!
I have one of those famous Seattle stickers on the exit door to my garage: "If it ain't Boeing, I'm not going!"
When the Russians were here in the NW with their IL-62 and AN225 I managed to put a few of those stickers on the fuselage near the entry door of the IL-62. My friend said that the only thing he likes about the Europlane that he flies is the quieter roomier cockpit. Switches
Thanks for all the responses, everyone, wow! Im here in Libourne now (European keyboards are very odd , off to see some things and grab some grub! I appreciate all the suggestions; Ill consider them all! The first thing I did upon reaching home base was locate the gym and a suitable running area
In Libourne you're far far away from any potential terrorist threat. Worst possible thing is you find yourself locked up in the cellar of a chateau and end up drink all the bordeaux...... I'm french, live in the UK and constantly fly all over Europe. I am getting a bit tired of all this terror threat bul***t. If we start to all get scared away, then these extremists have won. Security services do their jobs trying to get thoses bad guys. We shouldn't let them interfere with our lives.
I leave to Paris tomorrow! Hopefully everything will turn out well. Enjoy your trip, we have a quick one, be back Sunday night. Flying Ryanair, I couldn't beat the 18 Euro TTL RT DUB-BVA.
Just got back from Paris for two nights...took the opportunity to check out the auto show and the new SA Aperta. Beautiful, IMHO. The rest of the Ferrari area was nice, with a black 458, Grigio 599, and a 599 GTO-look California. Probably old news for everyone here! Anyway, being a laid back sort of guy, I prefer Libourne Too bad I missed you, Ferrariman! Ive managed to exercise restraint and not give in to the food too much! Tomorrow -- surfing in Hossegor! Forecasting a solid 10 feet! Cant wait!
Paris was amazing, I just got back today! Turned out we were down the street from the Ferrari dealership and tons of great cars throughout the city. Great weekend! Glad you had a great time.
