Hi all. I am going to be buying a vacation home in Greece and wanted to know what sport utility vehicles are on the market and approximate prices. Is there a good website for looking at European built SUVs? I would prefer a Ford but my uncle has warned me against it since American car parts are difficult to get there, and aside from the VW Touareg and the MB ML-class (I already own one here) I'm not familiar with what is available in the European markets. Any advice on vehicles and their reliability, warranty, etc. would be greatly apprecated.

    Thanks

    Angelo

Greek roads aren't as bad as they used to be, if you really want an SUV I'd go for a pre-owned BMW X5 with the 3.0l 6-cylinder diesel engine. It is economical for an SUV, very powerful (193 BHP), reliable (much better thatn the Merc ML) and will cope perfectly with Greek roads. I'd buy it pre-owned as you'd save about 50% on the new price, and for a "holiday car" it would make a lot of sense. These cars are often used as status symbols by their first owners, so they tend to be very well maintained.

Try www.autoscout24.de or www.autoscout24.it to see what's on the market in Europe (you could buy a car in Italy or Germany and then export it easily to Greece, since it's all within the EU). I don't know if there's a greek autoscout24 website yet, but you can try (what is the server abbreviation for greek websites?).

    Good luck!

Why not a porsche Cayenne. I own one since 2004, great drive and not too many on the road. A X5 is also great but a little out of date.
