Sorry for the off topic. I'm looking at buying a boat currently in Austin - Lake Travis. Any referrals for survey? Engine mechanic? Qualified capt for sea trial?
    Thanks!

    Lakeway actually. Even closer.

I really have no knowledge of the boat guys around here. I have been in boats, I used to water ski behind them. That's about my limit of knowledge of them.

A friend was looking at a Scarab at South Austin Marine a few weeks ago and was ready to go up and buy till I have a guy I know give it a once over....The "great shape" '97 31' Scarab had rotted wood in cabin, glass work and needed a new cockpit. Was priced at 37k but rock bottom was 35k from dealer, boat was worth 27k tops maybe. Told him the boat was crap or not priced right for it to still be for sale, be careful on buying a used boat and don't be afraid to walk away. Buying this time of year if you don't steal it or its not in great shape keep looking....

if you're still looking around, I'm your guy. I'm a much bigger boat guy than I am a car guy. Just shoot me a text on my cell at 512-917-7041 and I'll be able to either help you out or point you in the right direction and hook you up with who can help you out.
