emil.... lucky to be you!!!!!!! i am seriously considering that as a daily in LA! please keep us posted!
Guys, Love the power it has to offer. Not sold on the styling yet. Would love to get rid of my everyday driver, which is last years XJR, but one reason I want to get rid of it is the weather in the N.E. It sucks! I'm afraid to end up with a daily driver with the same sh*t rear wheel drive in the snow. Its really scary! I tell everyone that when its going to snow on Tuesday, my car is sliding on Monday. I think, as posted before, that the when the SA8 comes out. That may be the perfect daily driver. I don't know if I can warm up to the back of the M5. Really looks like it doesn't belong. In the end, it will be an impulsive buy for me, which means power over function. I really should give it some thought this time.
i will HAVE TO take AMV8 over the M5. granted the v10 is crazy in the m5, but car looks like a$$, and Aston Martin is GORGEOUS.
Yeah, it's hella hot, but: V10? 7-Speed SMG? Stradale-style "Race" button? It's a hot combination... The Aston Martin, or Ford-ton Martin as the case may be, will turn more heads and get much better treatment from the WC valets!
Next summer BMW supposed to put the same V-10 engine in the upcoming M6 coupe and convertible, I think that will be the car to have under $100,000.
I heard that rumour... I'll ask Gordon if it's true or not. My bet: - It's true - Car will not be less than 100
Can't get past the looks of the new 5 series. Don't like the 7 either. Neither has "grown" on me. I specifically got one of the last 2003 530's to avoid the new ones.
I know what you mean Sam. The new 7 & 5 are an aesthetic puzzle. What happened to evolutionary styling? Still, a V10, 7 speed (yes, 7 gears, not a typo) SMG trans. (BMW's semi-auto is still superior, even to the Enzo's), and BMW's uncanny ability to tune a suspension: the questionable styling would grow on me within the first redline shift. Sound like the world's finest sedan to me. Emil, whatcha think?... Gus
(Quote) Yeah, it's hella hot, but: V10? 7-Speed SMG? Stradale-style "Race" button? It's a hot combination... Emil, Edmonds sounds like a US car test. If the new M5 offers launch control on the US car it would be incredible! Previously, only the Euro-spec M3 SMG offered launch control, and only 40 launches permitted in the software, at that...
No official word in the BMW Press site on the M6. No doubt it'll happen, just not sure what and at what price!
Heyy Rehan, first time i've seen you online. It's Brandon, friend of Keiths from the run for him. How ya been? Car still in tact I hope, that rain can be pretty damaging.
US M3 does have a lauch control but it is tuned down version of the real deal. it holds rev at only 1800(vs ~4k for euro) when popping clutch, still cool though.
Yes, but the US M3 launch is just as the Magnetti Marelli system: the clutch will slip depending on how abruptly and deeply the throttle is depressed... As an F1 buff, BMW's SMG launch control is the closest thing to a hand-actuated, wheel-mounted clutch paddle.
Emil, just out of curiosity--what special circumstances give you the opportunity to test drive the new M5?
