LOL In all fairness, my attention span can give my baby's a run for the money.. In the spirit of full disclosure, I think my Australian counterparts have found out that I am married to a South African and promptly revoked their invitation. I'm sure my spirited rendition of "nya-nya" following the rugby world cup didn't help the matter.. However, as one of them said, "better 'boks than the English, or we'd never hear the end of it for another four years.."
I'm sure another oportunity will present itself - we'll see you then!! I can see that having a negative impact! Now that is definitely true!!
I guess anyone can get into strife anywhere, so you can't tar every person in a place with the same brush. If you have a bad experience in a city, it's only natural to label it all bad, but perhaps it's not warranted. Born in WA (400km north of Perth) I lived in Perth for a long time and have visited several times since coming to SE Qld and I love the place. Maybe a bit quiet for some, but it's come a long way in the past 10 years. No shortage of anything now. Cost of housing has gone mad though, lucky we kept our near-city property when we bailed! For livability, climate and low-stress it poos all over the bigger cities. Long way from the rest of the world though, but some say that's a good thing. Only thing it has wrong with it I reckon is CR*P SURF and cold water, hence my living on the Goldie.
Yeah, lived in West Perth and Maylands. Whilst in WP I spent many drunken evenings wandering Northbridge/Leederville/City etc - nothing particularly untoward happened to me, but there was always that uneasy feel and I wouldn't do it again nowadays, actually it reminds me of how the west end of Adelaide is now. I had to go to the Casino last night for a party, but I hate anything west of Pulteney after 7pm and avoid at all costs. I hated the weather, it didn't rain any less than Adelaide - but there were never clouds unless it was raining so the skies were terminally dull. FWIW I hate the weather in Adelaide too between October and March, but nowadays I spend 99% of my time in good A/C'd places and don't have to commute or walk 15 mins to the train station and wait in the heat every day. A lot of other things going on in life at the time contributed to my distaste for Perth so if I were living there now in the same conditions I do here, I'd feel just as nonchalant about it as I do Adelaide or anywhere. I loved the river, some of the publife in South Perth, and the beaches which have great surf all the time whereas Adelaide beaches are so boring. Also seagulls in Perth all have two legs, here they are usually mongoloid.
Plans finalized - I'll be in Perth February 8th through 21st, so if anyone wants to give this sheila a grand tour of the city (or just stop by to say Howzit.. wait, I mean, G'Day.. , or talk about Italian exotics, World Superbike or MotoGP), drop me a note! Yuliya
Big DOH! March 8-21 Yes - VERY married, but somehow you wouldn't ask this question if a male Ferraristi posted this.. LOL Or do women in Oz not know or care much about cars?
Oh man, Mike, in one fast sweep I think we have just managed to offend the population of two major world cities, a small island and 10% of humanity. Oops. Didn't mean it.. But at least we were efficient!
Lil Squid - there are a few serious car girls in Perth including some very nice Ferrari owners (the cars and the girls!). There are some 'other halves' on here so maybe they'll put you in touch. Cheers from the 'right' side of the country, Karen
I think she meant right as in QLD being east and WA would be left being west, making Adelaide in the middle I might be wrong but I think that is where Kerrari was coming from. Shes pretty straight up and not sarcastic.
