My wife's Boxter is in need of a clutch and I'm not particularly fond of the Bellevue dealer. Do any of you have experience with an independent shop in either Seattle or Bellevue that you would recommend?

    thanks

In Bellevue, Squire's Autowerke at 425-641-3212.

In Seattle try Akers (Capitol Hill) 206-329-5253 or Gerber (Magnolia) 206-352-6911.

If you like cool stuff I would really reccomend Gerber. Lots of interesting hardware to geek out on, both Ferrari and Porsche related. Tell Mark you heard it here.

Besides the two mentioned above, another mechanic I can speak highly of from personal experience with 3 Porsches prior to my 512 TR is Leif Johnson whose shop, Autowerks Northwest is in Woodinville. He is one of the mose reasonable mechanics I have met. 425-788-3476.

I've used Squire's for years w/ my old 3.2 Carrera and they always did a great job. I've used Aker's as well but just wasn't as convenient for me and I preferred dealing w/ Squire. Both are great independent shops, you can't go wrong.

I've never taken my GT3 (yet) to either as its had 0 problems (other than initial terrible alignment) since the day I picked it up. 16k miles. 1st oil change in Nebraska, 2nd in California, maybe next will have to be in Vancouver ;).

Another shop that has a good rep is Chris' German Auto in Bellevue. It's owned by Chris Powell. John Robison (who instructs for Proformance) works there too.

I always take my 911 to John Walker's Garage in Greenwood.
If you're not familiar with the Porsche chat boards, Pelicanparts.com is the best one out there, similar to ferrarichat.com. That is the best resource for Porsche info, where to take cars, mods to make, etc... Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure John is air-cooled only so no Boxster clutch jobs for him.

Kie, I didn't know that, but it makes sense from what I've seen at his shop.
