    Hi there :)

Did anyone ever visit the La Défense district around La Grande Arche in Paris? I know where it is located but never was in that exact neighbourhood.
I would like to know what kind of neighbourhood it is (mainly bussines I guess?) and if it's difficult to find a SAFE parking space near La Grande Arche. The car (not a Ferrari ;)) may be be located there from friday around noon 'till midnight...
But I just don't like to leave it unattended somewhere if I don't know it will be safe... :( Maybe I need to find another solution.
    Any help is higly appreciated!

My appologies for going off topic :)

    Greets, Alexander

    Dear Alexander,
first of all, sorry can`t help you / answer you questions.

But, please DO NOT APOLOGIZE to ask a question here!!!!!!!
    - you are a highly respected fchatter since 2 years!
    - its a serious question and you are asking for advice from a fellow fchatter!

I sadly see people are getting nervous & confused to ask a question, start a new thread cause it could be off-topic?!
    Damn, whats going on here?????
Whats on topic / off topic?
Even it would be (what is not the fact) off topic it would drop down and get lost within a few days here. Just see and have a closer look to all the other regional sections.....tons of off-topic which got lost after a while and nobody cares about.

Sorry, couldn`resist. Just my opinion and 0,00000001 cent

    Wolfgang

Sorry Alex, can't help you with this.
I have to agree with Wolfgang.
Nothing wrong with asking question at fellow Fchatters in here.
    Can't always talk 24/24 about Ferrari's.
This section makes europe smaller because we are getting information from the other countries. Learning from eachother differences.
Thanks to Ferrarichat I am gonna meet some spanish Fchatters in Madrid this saturdayafternoon. Has nothing to do with Ferrari's. Never been in Madrid before.

I have to agree with both of you :)

But to keep it ON TOPIC... for this thread... Alex... I don't know about secure parking down there... But maybe my father does. He have been in Paris before with his own car... and maybe he know about some parking facilities.

Or maybe try in the french thread ;) If they don't notice this one soon :)

La Defense is a very modern area mostly built in the 70 ´s and 80 ´s.Near the Grand Arch there not many secure parking places in the night, because it is a business area and it is nearly dead at night. There buildings wihere live people too,but it not very wealthy ,just a lower social standard.I recommend to park in
a hotel there or outside and go there by metro (ca.5 min.to Arch de Triumph)

Thank you very much for your reply :)
I'm in doubt actually... do you think a parked foreign car could get damaged there during the evening hours?
Aren't the parkings guarded and open 24/24? How much euro's/hour?
I will probably return to my car after midnight...
I will not stay in a hotel so I guess I won't be allowed to park on a hotel parking :(

Again, thank you very much for your help, very much appreciated.

    Regards, Alexander

    Wolfgang, Tina, Roel, Guy, Paul,
Thanks for your thoughts too :)
I just wanted to be clear that this thread wasn't really Ferrari related... :)
I thought it was better to mention that in the title.
After all, we ARE on a Ferrari board here :)

However, I quickly had a few very useful answers here (also by pm :))
I knew there were people here that could help me with this :) After all, it is a worldwide community and some users knew the place really well, thanks :);)

I have been there many times on work related business; used to drive there from Antwerp (3.5 hrs) but now would only go there by TGV (1.2 hrs).

I used to stay at the Sofitel in the CNIT building, and later at the new Sofitel Grande Arche.

Both hotels have private parking spaces, some outdoor (at the CNIT), some underground.

Although I assume that these are for hotel guests, there are times that the parkings are very empty. I also think that you can enter the parkings by just paying for it at the ticket desk... .

Suggestion: call the Sofitel CNIT (you can probably find the number on their website and check if non-residents can also park; or if they have a suggestion.

    Good luck,

    Frank

As said before, the place is essentialy business and offices, with private underground parking lot. But you'll find some public expensive underground parking lot (forgot the hourly rate, maybe be 4,5,6€/h ??). With even very few street where you can park outside, if you're lucky you can find a place. And finally, I'd say that if it's surely dead at night, it's not also the worst place in Paris to park. If it's not a Fcar or any luxury flashy car, I (and I say "I") would go and park there with my daily car...

What you are looking for is the Compagnie des Remisages. (www.compagnie-des-remisages.com). Rates are very reasonable. I parked there for years.

Ok, the trip to Paris was a big succes :D

I drove into the Vinci PA parking, right next to La Grande Arche, found a good spot and left the car with a relatively safe feeling :) When I came back later in the night, the place was deserted and looked completely different, like I've been told... no more shopping people but beggers and drugaddicts instead around the payment automats, where I had to pay 21 euro's for parking. Four guys kept on following me and kept on asking for cigaretes and money... Very annoying! My car was the only one still left in the parking... still shiny and no damages but to be honest I was glad when I drove away :)

@Jean/Gordon, thanks again for the pm's, it was really nice to meet you before the "business"-appointment I had. Great to see your beautiful 412 and the place where it was parked :D:cool:;)
The passenger ride you offered me was absolutely amazing! Merci beaucoup!

    Regards, Alexander
