So further to car show, a local gentleman, apparently a F-car enthusiast, spent a lot of time looking over my car (which I bought a month ago), asking me questions, then offered to purchase the car for what I paid for plus a couple extra bucks. Not really interested in selling, but.... If I sold it, that would mean I got paid to drive a Ferrari around for a month. I gave him my number and he is apparently coming by this week. What do you think? I don’t really want to sell, my car is a part of the family, but it makes me feel that I got a good price on the car.

Given you just bought it a month ago, I wouldn't expect any depreciation to take place period. If you bought it for well-below market value, you may want to consider turning a profit. I guess this point completely depends on where you purchased the car, and for how much; neither of which are really my business. Just something to think about, I suppose.

On the other end of the spectrum however, if you're not interested in selling because you've developed a sentimental attachment to the car, why even bother wasting your time letting the potential buyer come over and potentially take it for a joyride on your watch and dime?

Personally, Id pass unless the "profit" was something substantial. The second that person drives away - you will be looking for another one which may never match the emotions you have with this one.

But again, its your choice. At the very least - its good to know your car is a wanted ;-)

The answer is very simple - you need to decide which is more important and which you would rather have; a profit on the resale, or the Ferrari you now consider family.

so he's willing to pay you your purchase price + the HST you paid on it? If not, you're still losing a big chunk of change. Maybe you should send this guy my way :)

Dennis, are you considering unloading the 430?

By the way, I saw you on Richmond Street a few weeks ago, your 430 looked like a million bucks ;)

For the right price Mike, I'd consider it, but not actively trying to sell it.

Were you in your Ferrari? I don't recall seeing it and it would be hard to miss, so I would assume you weren't.

sell it and get a 360...spiders are under a $100k now and not as rare a way way way better car to drive daily or just on the weekend, plus a power roof and steering!

I love all Ferrari's but the 360 is the least appealing to me. I wouldn't sell my 355 to purchase a 360. This opinion is only based on looks - I have not driven a 360. I just love the look of the 348 and 355.

Isn't any material object for sale at the right price? If you think you can find a nicer car and pocket some money - go for it! As long as it's replacement is a Ferrari it will quickly become part of the family.
