Probably with the F200X cars in the early '00s. What happened to the days when the cars were called "312"s for 15 straight years??

The McLaren looks very similar to the 2012 car. Gentle evolution, I suppose?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I can agree with you on that one. :D

The presentation format had a lot of awkward silences and really wasn't very slick at all. For as exciting as they made that, they could have been discussing health and safety regulations instead without much difference.

Jenson was personable, but that was about it.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Welcome to the buttoned (pun not intended ;)) down world of the guys in Woking. They could make the most exciting event ever boring.

After they lost Bruce they lost their soul :(

Hopefully Ferrari will do a better job. Couldn't be any worse.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

Something about ''don't fix what isn't broken'' ;).

Their car was incredibly fast last year, just unreliable. Maybe they've beefed some off the internals up a little ;).

They've actually introduced a front pull road.

McLaren copying Ferrari, where did I already hear that?

    Also pull rod rear suspension.

They all copy if it works, that's if it doesn't get banned.

And they did it without a stepped nose or, for what I see, a a fake panel.
That's quite remarkable but the rod is basically horizontal, even more than in the f2012.
That must be a challenge, for the adjustments and for the chassis rigidity

I'd post pics but I'm stuck in court all day again today!

What I've noticed with the new Mclaren. I bet this nose flexes a bit. Interesting sidepod intake. Exhaust will change further. Pullrod front suspension. This will be a good car even though it is a clear evolution to 2012

The sidepods also start a couple CM further back than 27. The sidepods appear to have a slightly higher CoG but the undercut around the floor area and triangular sidepod intake (W03 trait) will flow a good bit of air.

I also just noticed the rear suspension upper a-arm has a slightly lower pickup point which tells me they've repackaged a good bit internally to get it that way. This will be the car to beat if Chico and Button can get what I know Lewis could get out of it.

An extremely clever evolution in that this new Mclaren hides the driveshaft completely under carbon fiber in what is essentially a wing which is part of the suspension. Brilliant

The wheelbase is the same as 2012.

Sidepod design is the same only a bit smaller. No ramp exhaust.

That front wing is really something.

The modesty panel makes it look like a boat.

    Not a nice one either.

They've cleaned up/lowered the rear deck nicely.
