Image Unavailable, Please Login Pretty blue one coming up for auction in a couple weeks at Mecum. anyone here? no affiliation.
I think this car was very telling for the GT4 market. It was a really nice car with good history and a nice, albeit older restoration, and it sold for a premium price for a GT4. They are great little cars but far too many are sitting in the $50k plus asking price point, but not selling. This was a great example of the market speaks. These are $35k-$70k cars with bottom being not so good and the top should be better than new.
I think that 70k is not the top pricing 80+ is more like it. Concourse cars have previously sold at over 100k. I do agree that the fixer uppers are at 35k. Never really many on the market. But that’s not to surprising now days.
To get the most for this car, I'm not sure Mecum was the correct venue for this car, mostly American and muscle cars here. Worth more then $60K, if a dealer bought it watch for this to show up on BaT.
BaT Euro 1977 Ferrari 308 GT4 Sold for $141,000 on 4/5/22 https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1977-ferrari-308-gt4-2/
Really nice example and thoughtfully refreshed. Euros had 255hp and lighter bumpers right? USA was 230hp to 215hp depending on the year? I had a USA 78 308 GTS and it was rated at 215hp.
Another GT4 on BAT. Needs a bit of sprucing up, looks pretty decent. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
One thing that would have deterred me (if I was buying) would have been the seller's complete absence for the duration of the auction. Well, I guess not "complete" absence as he did reply to one comment—but only one! A car whose seller is not engaged with the comments tends to sell for less, so it makes me wonder what this would have sold for if the seller had actually responded to the multiple comments and questions asked of him. I'd be curious what he said to you that turned you off.
There are apparently lots of certifiable people cause some crazy person recently paid $169,000 for a 4 cylinder Porsche 968 on bat. [emoji23] Most uninteresting and boring car I’ve ever owned.
This looks like it might have been Rocco's car; but, I can't be sure. If so, it drives nicely, as I took it from Laurel Cyn to the 405 and back, across Mulholland--quite a few years ago--with Rocco, right after he bought it. The front bumper does seem to stick out a bit too far. However, I believe mine also stuck out a similar distance, though maybe not that far. They can be pushed-in and I think that's what some folks have done to make it look cleaner and what I will do to mine. The "picnic-table" bumpers are terrible looking, which is why I bought a GTS rear bumper to replace mine ....someday! But then again, all of the above is just my opinion. That car has also been for sale for a very long time. Is it the price or is it something else? Who knows? Robert Garvin may know.
The picnic-table bumpers may look like crap. But I don't believe there are any other picnic tables, in the world, as nice as these! Go Paul Bunyan! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not my car. I still own the car you drove on Mulholland 15 years ago. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think you have to consider the auction company. Mecum is one notch above a local dealer auction. If you have a Yenko or a Hemi Cuda you will probably get what it’s worth all others are what the locals will pay. Just my 2 cents.
Dropped the motor in last week, headers went in today along with the oil cooler and shroud. Tomorrow I'll install the axle shafts. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oops, I put this on the wrong thread. Should be in "what have you done to your Ferrari today" Happy Father's Day to all.
