Norwegian Series I A series I was sold in Oslo this passed winter. Supposedly completed but it had not run for about 30 years. Does anyone have any information on this car i.e if it stayed in Norway , VIN, etc? Kind regards, Jan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
No one of my Maserati friends in Norway knew when I asked them this morning. I had contact with the seller winter 2012/13. I will ask him if he want to render the VIN. Kind regards, Jan

Hello Rudy, I fully agree with you on what you point out regarding how these cars "stand". I´m really surprised to see that many Sebring stand much too high, especially in the back. The wheel wells on the Sebring are rather large from the beginning and they need wheels and tires with the correct proportions and for the wheels to fill the wells correctly. And now I´m talking only about the form. A car that sits too high does not perform as it was supposed to. Kind regards/Jan
The selling dealer for 10275 had no explanation for the high stance; "they're all like that". I did not call back.
I agree, though I don't know if it as simple as chopping a coil or 2 as we did 40 years ago on our hot rod cars...... I suppose new coils could be wound. I am personally not a fan of the wire wheels either; I much prefer the steel rims (I'm sure I'm in the minority here). Were there ever any factory alloy (cast/forged) wheels available in the era? I'm already realizing that when I finally get a Sebring, I will be "personalizing" it to the extent that I will be an outcast here.....
It appears that both cars in question have the wrong shock absorbers installed. And or the rear semi-elliptical springs have been changed, installed or modified. There is NO reason that the Sebring should sit, "high", unless incorrect parts have been used or the car has been altered. For a dealer to say, "they all sit like that", shows how much the "dealer" knows about the car they are selling. Not much. Here is a factory photo of a unique Sebring: And here is another factory photo: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
James, it is as simple as "chopping", but I wouldn't call it that in our shop. I have done it by modifying, or cutting, with a saw using cutting fluid to keep the heat down to a minimum. Never use a torch. You simply remove a certain spiral of coil, equal length on both sides, left and right, that you require for the height you want. On the semi elliptical springs you could use a "lowering block" without much difficulty. Or you can have custom springs made for the required height you desire, that is another option. It really isn't that cost prohibitive. ~Trev
Here is a great shot of a series one Sebring that captures the true essence of the design and the ride height is perfect on this one. I keep this picture as inspiration during my current Sebring restoration that is down to bare metal. Chris Image Unavailable, Please Login
And a very nice colour, but the exhaust ! brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr It must be like this.............. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi tritone, The original wheels (pictured on the Series II broschure) where factory (cast/forged?) Borrani 16x6L" aluminum alloy outer rims rivetted to chromed steel inner dito. I personally think they are very tasteful, in keeping with the gentleman express which the Sebring really is. Kind regards, Jan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Another Series II sold recently in Amsterdam. It stands nicely. Bolt-on wire-wheels (thought Borrani) are not "my cup of tea".
