I'm pinning for one of the rare manual 6 speeds. Maybe when they sink under $100K in a couple years. Anyone own? Have driven one? Pics? Vids? Reviews? Anything and anyone welcomed.
Here's an '05 manual for $150K: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-Ferrari-612-Scaglietti-Rare-6-Speed-Manual-V12_W0QQitemZ160335708574QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item2554c0c19e&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A-1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
Bill- That is a really early one from July 2004. Also a very nice car. Interestingly, there are many 575M and 575 SA cars with a lower serial number, and I am sure they were still building 575 SAs when this car was built. Some of the late 575s were reported to be fitted with the identical displacement 612 engine. Note the engine type on the 575 SA was Type 133G, while the 612 was Type 133F, indicating the 612 engine was under development before the stopgap 575 SA engine. Ferrari numerology remains fascinating, and convoluted. Taz Terry Phillips
I have a 6 speed and I love it. I drive it more than my F430. I get "thumbs up" everytime I drive the car from men and women. The superlative GT with traditional 6-speed like the old days--a gentleman's car with a connection that cannot be replicated with hydraulic shifting mechanisms. Low cost to maintain in the long term. And most importantly, I will never want for a faster F1 as the technology continues to improve -- a 6-speed is a 6-speed and it won't be getting any faster unless I get faster. Personally, I would be bothered by driving a "slow" F-1 shifter when I knew that there was a faster one in a newer car. This 612 will remain timeless as long as I own it. My car has lost 20% or more since I bought it, but I have the perfect color combination, extras, and HGT-S package. Probably isn't another car like it in the US.
I have a 06 HGTC pkg and the F1 - but since up opened the door how many with the HGTC or S pkg.s are there? I have not yet seen on for sale anywhere and wonder how they are for doing in the resale market? I agree the 612 is a timeless Ferrari and given the fact a new 612 with nice options tips above the 400k scales.
Terry, your knowledge is overwhelming. I have the Superamerica's engine type as F133 E. Can you tell me where you have it as F133G...? Do you have a picture of a Superamerica engine type and number stamping...?
so cool to read that. congrats, and thanks for sharing. i have a Superformance Corba 427 factory made replica. 2300 lbs, 550 hp. classic black/black. words cant explain the fun
When I bought my 6-sp, my research indicated that only 5% of cars were 6 speed and for '06 a very small percentage (certainly not above 10%) were H-GTS or H-GTC. As I mentioned in my post above, I think it is fair to assume that my car is most likely one-of-a-kind in the US.
Good to know - so the newer 612's OTO are automatically HGTS and the HGTC is no longer available? Correct me if I am wrong but the only difference from the HGTS and the HGTC is Ceramic brakes.
That is my opinion, I have not read that. And I'm for sure not an expert. My opinion is based on what I'm seeing with all 'modern day' Ferraris, which is they drop is resale value just like anything else. And if the current trend continues, I'm predicting (and as a potential buyer, hoping) that early 612s will be south of $100K in, I don't know, 18 months? There are exceptions to this theory, of course. Scuderias, Enzos, 550 Barchettas, etc., seem to have held strong so far, even in these rough times. But look at $50,000 456 GTs, $60,000 355s, $80,000 550s, and you see the trend. One nice surprise is the lovable 328. Gotta love them holding strong in the 45 to 55K (for beauties) range. So reliable, so timeless, so easy to live with.
That is the whole problem within this forum. I wish you needed a VIN to enter - put some skin in the game. 612's are what they are... the flagship of Ferrari
I have a manual 612, and I find it massively satisfying, with a swift, easy gearbox. The power delivery is fantastic, and its an amazing car. I have an f430 spider F1, and had a 575F1 before this, but the 612 is a stunner
OK your about the 5th one on this thread with interest in a gated 612 however, check writers are/were very far and few between. So much so this option was discontinued in '06. Even the more sporting 599 buyers had trouble checking off this option at time of purchase.
we know that, party pooper. that's why this post was set up. for the few of us who are interested in the manual 612s.
I owned a 6 speed HGTC version made in 2006 and it was a wonderful daily driver; lots of torque, sounded really great and the transmission was very good.I was told at the time that there were only a total of two 612 HGTC 6 speed cars in the US. I am not a fan of the F1 and I never tried it in the 612 so I can't offer a comparison. It wasn't easy to get Ferrari to build the car with a 6 speed. They put it off for many months. They would much rather build F1 cars; they say it helps to smooth out production but my guess is they like the extra revenue both from the F1 extra cost and from the eventual clutch replacement. With the dual clutch transmission in the California you can bet that the F1 will be put to rest. My car had Rosso Rubino Metalic paint with a black interior and bordeaux accents. Last I heard it was in Texas. I would be happy to have it back. Happy hunting; I would think these cars won't get as cheap as 100K just because they make such good daily drivers but who knows.

All 612 OTOs have the ceramic brakes, so the HGTC package was no longer necessary. As far as I know, the HGTS package is still available- which consists of the sport exhaust and sport suspension.
Actually, that is my car!! Pix don't do the exterior paint justice. As you can see, I ordered it without the shields and with aluminum colored calipers. Still looks great IMHO.
Anyone know the following '07 612? It's for sale at Ferrari of LI and they're asking 189K--any guesses as to what they'd take? http://www.easyautosales.com/used-cars/2007-Ferrari-612-SCAGLIETTI-11084598.html
Unfortunately no pics but sounds like a beautiful example. Where the current market is may not be consistent with what the dealer expects. Only one way to tell, jump in the game and start the negotiation.
After riding in one. It also spits out a marvelous note Tottaly agree and the satisfaction of ramming that stick through the gates is better then copulation. So underated.
