The complete history/catalog of AMR models/kits Andre Marie Run passed away but he was a skilled & famous builder of kits & built ups in 1/43 scale mostly.
Andre Marie Ruf was a manufacturer, pattern maker artist and more, not just a builder. One of the most highly regarded in the industry. Very much can be said.
Sorry I misspelled his name, of course I knew it was Ruf. Spell check corrected my spelling and I missed it.
The colors represent different time periods, from start to end, shows the progression plus very many special items Ruf made, and a couple on other areas, including the manufacturing. I haven't looked at this book-set in years... maybe I'll get a chance this winter!
Thanks guys for the information. That's the best part of this forum, finding out about stuff that either you didn't know or about stuff you didn't know that you didn't know.
I just wondered about the flood of "The Sense of Perfection" / Lego LaFerrari books offered at eBay for much less than 100 euros - until I recognised that Lego has published an unlimited standard edition ot the limited edition. The only difference is the lack of a slipcase. Bad news for all those who paid huge premiums just to get hold of the book. It's now sold off at a junk price ... Here we go again ...
“Jack, what are you doing in there?” “Playing with my Erector Set.” Some of you will remember those….
Actually Sven it was a book on the Ferrari Daytona SP3 model, not the LaFerrari. I must admit I do love a bit of LEGO and I was the one who originally posted about the limited edition LEGO Daytona SP3 book many months ago. Oh well, looks like you can add the LEGO book to the other items that have had the bottom fall out of it like Crypto and Rolex watches.
Hi Mark, yes, of course I meant SP3 Daytona I was too much puzzled about the incident to get it right
Funnily the "new" SP3 lego book is already out of stock - but being unlimited, a reprint is possible. Personally I just hope such stories will multiply to the point they will discourage speculators definitely.
The real speculation was started on high end market books with 4 digit prices (in terms of innovation theory: by innovators and early adopters). The LEGO book is a lesser price level and therefore attracts the imitation crowd of buyers (the late majority according to the same innovation theory). When speculation ends, it is always the common man which loses out. In the Netherlands there is a proverb "the devil always sh**ts on the largest pile"
"The Ferrari Place" by Jim Hunter has now been reviewed on speedreaders.info: https://speedreaders.info/26050-the-ferrari-place/
@piloti Nathan, I enjoyed your recap of the “presentation” books in the current issue of Magneto. Jack
Is there a better “auto focused” website to sell automotive books than eBay? I’ve found it cumbersome and their fees are insane. I have listed a few here, but the commercial section gets way less eyes than the regular. Where do most people buy/sell vintage/rarer Ferrari books? (and etc. vintage)
Have a look at the automotive books and periodicals group on face book, over 2000 members, quite active buying , selling, sharing of collections.
also part of my problem…I strictly use FB for my business. I am never on there. Just my marketing team using my account
The Clymer Handbook (by Hans Tanner) is a great little book and I paid the cover price back in the '60s. There was info in there that you could actually use back then.
