My copy arrived yesterday in perfect condition, securely wrapped in two layers of bubble wrap and an appropriately sized box.

I also ordered the Considine Yanks at LeMans book a couple weeks ago since it was on sale at DBP's website. Unfortunately it arrived last week with a damaged slipcase, perhaps due to the volumes shifting within the case while in transit . I emailed DBP, who quickly responded to apologize and say they will send a replacement. The book itself is pretty incredible, with plenty of anecdotes and other information gathered by Considine.

I'm going to enjoy reading this holiday!

The good news for those of you who enjoyed Yanks at Le Mans is that the next two volumes are getting close to be ready to print....a suitable tribute to the late great Tim.

To give credit when it's due, I'm following up to report that I received today my replacement slipcase in perfect condition, securely packaged in bubble wrap which protected the contents from the partially crushed outer box. My thanks go to DBP for the excellent follow up service.

For what years were 250GTO anniversary tour books published? I know of 25th, 35th and 45th. Any others…..50th? 60th?

And a 60th Anniversary tour in the U.S., which is covered by a separate thread here at FC (I haven't been successful in finding any way to post a link of this thread in this thread)

Thank you, Sven. I’ll try to find the thread. Do you know if a book about the 60 year tour in the US was published?

EDIT: I found only one very brief thread about the U.S. tour…in the Collectibles and Literature section. I inquired about a book in that thread a few years ago but did not receive any replies.

I haven't seen any book of the 60th tour yet. If there is one, probably it has been handed out to participants only. But that's speculation.

Great to hear from you @-CD-

Good idea to keep the blue cloth version, that is big enough to try and fit on the shelf :)

Thankfully the trend of oversize, tome style books seem to be coming to an end.

I rarely post in this section, but am almost a daily reader because there are so many knowledgeable posters about what is good and not so good in the book field. I would like to add to the good reviews posted above about the Bull Publishing folks and their great followup service. Early in December when it was posted here the Ferrari In America book was ready to ship, I ordered a copy. It was dispatched almost immediately, and when it arrived a few days later it looked like it had been run through a war zone. UPS did their best to destroy it, and their feeball attempt to tape the box back up was hilarious. Needless to say, the book inside was really bent up. I sent a note to Bull, and within an hour they responded with an apology and the promise of a new book being sent. I not only got the replacement, I got a note from them the day it was scheduled to arrive inquiring if it arrived in good shape, which it did. You just can't ask any more than what I received, and I truly appreciated it.
PS I'm really enjoying the book by the way.

    This was my experience:

My first copy was shipped by a fulfillment service, not by DBP. Check the return address on the first one you received. Its condition may not have been the fault of UPS……My first book arrived badly damaged, not due to UPS, , but due to the completely unacceptable boxing and packing. The box was distinctly second hand as the Brits might say, it even had a label still attached from a previous use! It was an inappropriate size and strength for the size and weight of the book, so the book was able to rattle around inside the box during its journey.

It gets worse…Upon further inspection I determined that the book was damaged before it even went into the box! How do I know this? Well, the book was encased in bubble wrap. The bubble wrap was not damaged or inadequate in any way, yet every corner was bumped, two of them severely. This book had been dropped or mishandled before it was ever wrapped and put into the box.

I complained and Bull sent a replacement which arrived in good condition, as it should have been in the first place. This copy was sent directly from DBP in a proper box worthy of a >$100 book.

    I wouldn’t bury a squirrel in this thing….

To answer your question, Jack, I can't determine where my books were sent from because the boxes have already been discarded. I can say my original box was in far worse shape than yours was and to be honest when I opened it I was surprised there was a book inside. I do remember that the box was really scuffed with a black material that led me to believe it had been caught in a conveyor belt. What ever the cause, my point in posting was to state how pleased I was by how the Bull firm handled the problem and very quickly. Several weeks before I ordered the Ferrari book I purchased the Porsche Racing 1968 book from them which is much larger in size and weight and that came in a double corrugated box that probably wouldn't have survived what my Ferrari book went through.

Like I said above, I look forward to the input from everyone in this thread for new and old books to add to my collection. I have a long way to go to catch up with my Porsche stash. I hope all have a prosperous 2025.

Basically you were lucky the second time around, because both boxes are completely unsuitable for sending books. Many publishers may be good at producing books, but most (are you listening ‘Porter Press’) have no clue about shipping them. Two exceptions are ‘Sportfahrer Zentrale’ and ‘Palawan Press’, both will ship bomb proof. Also booksellers like ‘Hortons’ know how to ship. In any case, doing it properly at once is far less costly!

To be fair the second one is much better than it appears in the picture….but the first one was so bad tgat the picture actually flatters it….and the picture doesn’t convey its……flexibility….As Sam Posey put it in The Mudge Pond Express, “the rigidity of a Persian rug.”

I never had any issue with Porter Press after many orders. But, yes, the Sportfahrer Zentrale standard is hard to beat, especially in Germany, where you get the books free of shipping costs! In case of Palawan, you pay heavily for shipping, so one should expect a high standard ;)

Only now, when I went through my shelves to look for a Sunday read, I recognized that there has been a second book on the 50th Anniversary Tour in 2012, published by Cyrille Jaquinot and Ludo Ferrari:

My original book came in the same sturdy box and packing as your replacement. Luck of the draw? Shouldn’t happen at all for any book.

As the countdown to new years eve begins here in Australia, let me wish all my fellow bookworms a very happy, healthy and safe 2025 !!

    Just a quick question....

Best book you've purchased (new release or old) in 2024 ?

I'll start off with Millanta on Ferrari.

Well, without the obvious benefit of reading it yet I’d have to say Ferrari in America simply because of the long anticipation and my high hopes for it. And anyway, it may be the only car book I purchased this year.

    My ...or old...nomination for 2024

A-Z of Formula Racing Cars, David Hodges (1990)

This one was a surprise find that appeals to my open wheel prejudices. Covering many of the marques that were noted in race reports of the prior three decades, with brief details of nearly each model across all the classes. A fascinating pre-internet reference production.

    Hi Mark,

all the best for you and all other FC community members in 2025 as well!

    Best book in 2024?

Without thinking much: 'The Ferrari Bloodline' by @Karimsaid. Really outstanding.

As far as older titles are concerned, which I bought in 2024: 'Ferrari 410 Superamerica Series III' by Dyke Ridgley and 'Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona' by Gerald Roush. You won't find many car books these days which provide so much information in such condensed way in a small-format size.
