The world is small Sven, I had the same feeling inside this shop. I was visiting Tuscany, Golden Triangle and... Maranello This book company makes a series about cars.... I mean Best brand
That's cool, just noticed the book uses the same style of logo on the cover as on the 25th anniversary Countach. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You guys just inspired me to search, find and order a copy of this fine book at my preferred dealer Gilena
Just across the street from Joe Macari's shop in London, (Merton Road) , there was another dealer. "The German shop". The man had beautiful cars, Ferraris, Lamborghini etc... I passed every day, and then one day I stopped. Another man named Ali invited me to come aboard a white Jalpa, a white Miura and a red Countach... I was really impressed that day. I only own two books on Lamborghini, each time I think of that famous day.
Nothing to do with books but the German Motor Company which is opposite Joe Macari's current showroom, used to be where Joe Macari was. Before Joe Macari was there it was Pullicino's who sold Ferraris, Lamborghinis etc.
Anybody know about this book covering Italian cars. It was sealed so would be interested to know the amount of Ferrari content. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was sure I read about it here - after checking, you could go to posts #6329 and #6340 (and maybe some after those). No real review though.
Thanks for that. I must have missed seeing it. Looks like it's a pass from the description. Did you end up buying it @jm2 ?
I haven’t read the book, but as it is from "gestalten Verlag", I would be rather careful. I had "Beautiful Machines - The Era of the Elegant Sports Car", which contains an incredible and annoying number of errors. You can only enjoy it, when you don’t read the text. Otherwise, you get angry. [/QUOTE]
Not sure if I have posted these already in the past or not (if I did so, then please accept my apologies). Gilena's bookstore in Brescia, Italy, has been mentioned here regularly. Some pix. Having completed 30 issues in the series covering all years from 1970 thru 1999, Sauro decided to do a volume for this past year (2024), and now he's gone back to the beginning, having done 1950-1951. All volumes available on Amazon, also available in Italian. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
News from the latest Porter Press newsletter: "We have another new book in the pipeline. This one is on the three Ferraris that Lord Bamford designed and had built over the last few years. You didn’t know, Lord Bamford had designed his own Ferraris? Neither did I. It is being written by James Taylor. "Talking of prolific, the great Doug Nye is currently working on no less than three books (with two more seriously exciting potential ones for next year) for us. He is well advanced with the one on the fabulous 4-litre-engined Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Competizione and the first of three volumes on Luigi Chinetti Sr and the NART story. The third book, which he has nearly finished writing, cannot be mentioned as yet. Mysterious? It is supposed to be! "As to Ferraris, Keith Bluemel has completed writing his definitive work on the double Le Mans-winning 250P/275P and design is well advanced. This should be launching in late-April. (...) Lianna Bruhlman is completing the editing of Ultimate Daytona, volumes 1 and 2."
Some pictures from the book by Taschen "From Scratch - Ferrari 330gt" which I have received 5 weeks ago. Not recommended!!! I think my pictures say it all.... Nothing unusual for teNeues, who always claim to publish exceptional collector's items, but actually deliver below-average stuff ... Thanks Gert for providing these insights. As I wrote some weeks ago, I read some sample pages and was shocked at the mediocre quality of the text.
We’ve been waiting a couple of years already. I’ll have to check my Amazon account to see when* I “pre-ordered” (I hate that term…and yet I used it) it. I hope they crop out that errant vine stem. It looks like it’s sneaking down on Enzo to tickle his ear or snatch his cap! He never could take a joke…… *Edit: May 12, 2019.
