What a fantastic book. Even though the popularity of digital media keeps on increasing, it will never be able to compete with such exquisite books. Thanks for sharing (even if it's in digital form
What a wonderful book Marcel , many thanks indeed for sharing - wow! For those who have an interest in this topic, Chris Nixon did write a book called Sportscar Heaven back in 2002. This is a fantastic book, not to the level of Rivals of course, but non the less a great read, with some wonderful photos and some beautiful artwork by Michael and Graham Turner. Copies are still available, Chaters (uk bookseller and publisher of this book)has the standard edition on half price sale, although I'm not sure if that's a first or second printing. I was fortunate enough to secure the limited edition copy they produced and have over the years managed to obtain some autographs of a few of the drivers, still on the look out for Roy Savadori to sign! Enclosed are a few shots of the limited edition and standard edition I have in my collection. My advice, pick up a copy before they are out of print. What a book! Thank you very much for showing us!!! Now that we are talking about Chris Nixon... I have been offered this book (Kings of the Nurburgring), it is signed by Nixon. What makes this book so special/pricey? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great book! I found one on Amazon for £19.99 and a specialized bookstore here in Holland sells it for 79,99. Quite a difference. I'm very scared about ordering collectors items from Amazon though. Their way of shipping doesn't guarantee you get the book in a collectible state... Natan Tazelaar
About ten years ago a Japanese publisher produced a book about the 250 LM, in particular about chassis #5903. It comes in Japanese language, in a metal case (size 3,3 cm x 14,0 cm x 20,0 cm) with a proper chassis tag, a CD inside, a text book, a large fold-out photo book as well as the reproduction of the factory owners manual. I understand that only very few of these books were produced. The printing quality and the entire fit and finish is of very high standards, really state-of-the-art. Another must-have Ferrari book. Here are some photos. That is an amazing book indeed. And I thought I had something special with my '250 GT Sperimentale from Mille Miglia Editrice' ;-) Natan Tazelaar
Chris' books have always held their value well or increased in value. They are always produced in fairly limited numbers and the chances of reprints are fairly slim, although some of his books have been reprinted. Also the fact that his research and writing is suberb, you won't be buying any fluff from him, that's for sure. Lastly, sadly Chris passed away suddenly a few years ago, so not trying to be too morbid, but a signed copy will be worth more now. Matt
Natan, I totally agree about Amazon, I no longer order through them as many times the items are damaged due to poor packaging. Hopefully that won't be the case with your order. It's a wonderful book, which I'm sure you'll thoroughly enjoy. Matt
I found it, but did not order it ;-) I rather drive 200 miles to pick it up and pay a higher price. I like it to be in mint condition, as the rest of my (modest) collection. Natan Tazelaar
Thanks for posting this.I bought one several years ago,and indeed they are difficult to find.I remember when it first came out everyone thought it was very over the top. Now,it's just cool!
There are many books about the 250 GTO but this one here is pretty special and rare. It was created for the 40th Anniversary of the 250 GTO by Moet & Chandon Champagne Producers, for the September 2002 celebration. I think they made not more than 50 copies. Hi Jack, I'm not shure, this is the only book I have found, maybe someone knows more?! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wolfgang-Von-Trips/dp/6132249435%3FSubscriptionId%3DAKIAI62UFGM6SSSKNQIQ%26tag%3Dsearchfindboo-21%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3D6132249435
That's just another one of those rip off things reprinting from Wikipedia. Do not waste your money. Jonathan
Jack Beware of this one. It says "High Quality Content by Wikipedia Articles." So a rip off. You can get the Wikipedia articles for free and print them yourself, and also the writer(s) don't get paid either. Nathan
Incredible books Marcel.. Thank you for taking the time to show us these gems. That "Rivals" book is just stunning... If you let me, I could live in your library... GT
Neither did I! Thanks! So it seems that no english book was published! Not yet... there are so many good german, and some french books out there, which deserve to get translated and published!!
