He's listed it several times for about a year. He used to ask for offers but none of mine (generous enough, in my opinion) was ever accepted.

 

We hope to have it ready before 8 weeks, but we are reprinting some sections because we want to correct a couple of typos and up the quality and finish.
Also, the burgundy edition comes with a limited edition, full size, fine art print of the original de Giusti artwork for the "30 Anni" brochure - this print will not be available any where else - only 30 numbered prints will ever be produced - this edition is already nearly sold out. (Original 30 Anni brochure cover shown below)

I hope it's not bad form to change the subject so dramatically, but since this is the book collector's thread.... I asked over in the Vintage section and will ask here, too: I just got an EXCELLENT, nearly AS NEW condition, copy of the Hans Tanner Ferrari Handbook. It's first edition, dtd 1959, Floyd Clymer publisher, $4 cover price. What is a fair market value for that book in that condition? As I said, it is very nearly perfect. I'm very happy with it.

I really respect the historic racers like Lauda with one exception - that is when they mouth off about the current racing scene.

I found the classic racing bios to be very moving. You get a good feel of what guts and determination it took to race back then. The Villeneuve book is really good - the passion of the man comes through very clearly.

 

1950? Did you mean 1960? I'll have to check again, but I thought I read 1959.... It's not a big deal, as I said, I'm very happy with the book because it's in such terrific shape. But now I'm gathering there's at least one other Tanner Ferrari book - "The Ferrari". Do I understand correctly? There also appear to be many revisions of that book as well. But it also seems that the first edition was published by Robert Bentley - is that correct?

edit: Alternatively, is there a "family tree" of sorts, of the various Tanner books and their respective revisions?

I have two original parts manuals I will be selling. A 365 GT 2+2 parts maul in good condition and the other is a 365 GTC/4 parts manual also in good condition.
Ferrari Literature is asking $575 for the 2+2 manuals and has several, I would be happy to get $300 for mine. They do not have a GTC/4 manual at this time I'll take $400 for it.

Offering these here first knowing they will go to good homes. The usual places next week.

 

There are 6 editions (1959-1984) of "The Ferrari", the fifth and sixth of which were co-authored (or updated) by Doug Nye, pre-eminent motorsports historian and F Chat member.

 

At the moment there is an exhibition in Basel (Switzerland) with 38 Ferrari's.

The book/brochure on this event has the cars history by fellow Fchatter and Ferrari Historian Marcel Massini and is 186 pages thick.

I have a spare copy when interested.

I saw the book at Horton's shop at Amelia Island. It is truly a beautiful book and the care and crftsmanship that went into it are obvious. I only wish I could afford a copy!

I was outbid on the 1954 yearbook offered three/.four weeks ago. Last week another came on the market. Somehow I got lucky and got it for less than half of what was paid for the first one. I just received mine. Yes there ia a special extra. It is a four page full yearbook size page full color issue of the 250 europa/750 monza/500 mondial promotion pamphlet. I will check with Merritt this PM and see if I can find a number. So far I have 1958-1965 yearbooks. This 1954 is my first original[yes I do have the regular reprints] of the early 1950s period that I could afford. I just keep plugging away daily. just one man's opinion tongascrew

I have Merritt in front of me and this pamphlet is on pages 101-110. Merritt is in B&W however the description of the colors agrees with the printed pages in the 1954 Yearbook. The pages in the Merritt book are 8x1/2 in. by 5x1/2 in. with a total of 10 pages. The pages in the Yearbook are 12x1/4 in. by 8x1/4 in. for a total of 4 pages. What is missing in the Yearbook are the three pages listing the specifications for each model. Hope this is helpful. just one man's opinion tongascrew

 

We also did a hardbound version with brown leather cover and individually numbered.
100 copies only. The standard one is softbound.

If I understand correctly what you have, then this is not a 'special extra'. I have checked 3 1954 yearbooks, and they all have a 4pg full-size full-colour section which reproduces pages from the "250 europa, 750 monza, 500 mondial" brochure. This section sits after p.24 (although the pages are not numbered) which is the page with Giulio Musitelli and Camillo Luglio featured on it.
Also, for those interested in yearbooks there are variations on this yearbook. It exists with gloss cover and also with matt cover.

The reason I mentioned the "special extra" was that someone in the "collecter" thread referred to it this way which aroused my interest. The 1954 Yearbook is the only one I have that has that has this so I guess it could be referred to as a "special interest". just one man's opinion tongascrew

Hi, I am the one who told about the Ebay sale (March 2012) of the first "expensive" 1954 yearbook, but honestly, it was really in great condition, that's why 2 enthousiast bidders went for it, I guess!
When I mentioned "a special extra" coming with the book, I meant the 50's F1 race position raster that was included in the buy.
As said before by piloti/Nathan, every 1954 Yearbook has this 250 Europa/500 Mondial/750 Monza brochure edited in the book.

If you eventually own the epic Ferrarissima series (especially the first series are awesome), have a look at issue N°9 of October 1988. The gadget that comes with it is a beautiful reprint of this brochure.
