According to an email I received from Taschen both editions are still available.

 

That works out to $6,000 for the collector's edition and $30,000 for the art edition with the engine block book stand.

I wonder which is the better, more comprehensive book.

 

Neither, based on everything that I have seen. Both are what I would classify as mediocre from either an editorial or pictorial standpoint, with little more than the "prestige" of a high price to justify their existence.

 

A fool and his money are soon parted.

 

Think of all the really important books on Ferrari one could buy with that money.

 

Not only is it heavy, it's thick . . . 6cm!! At 954 pages, this book can't be taken lightly.

I read this book, and it’s excellent.

 

What is the forum opinion on "Ferrari In Camera" compared to these?

 

My opinion is that Ferrari in Camera is a classic and should be in every serious Ferrari library, and the Taschen book is bling.

Disclaimer: I have not seen the Taschen book in person. All I know about it is what the publisher has provided.

 

Only trouble with the Opus and the Tashen book is due to their expense they will be treasured by their owners and in 4o years time 90% will still be around in mint condition. So they will not be very rare.

 

Sure, rarity came first from the numbers of units but at least rarity also came from market situation
and if a lot of books are in safe collectors hands and only a few see the market,
the books can be very rare, altough thousands were printed...

 

Rarity and market conditions are two completely different animals. These books are commodities, no matter what the market condition.

 

As a collector i have always a look on the market but that is only my humble opinion.

 

There is a reprint edition for the 1934 Scuderia Ferrari Yearbook? Who printed this (170 page?) book and the typical price plus how common is this reprint edition? Thank you!

 

I think you mean this one? It is published by "Il Fiorino" in Modena. Very common and easy to find. Older issues are better compared to more recent ones. Paper and print wise.

Yes, this is an older issue. I had a recent copy which was printed on a more glossy kind of paper. This one has an older look and touch.

 

The Taschen book is bar far the most impressive book ever made for Ferrari.
The art edition might seems expensive but when you see that a 10,000 copies book on Newton went from $1,500 to $25,000 in 15 years then I can easily see this only 250 copies go over $100k in a few years! Let’s face it the Marc Newson stand is absolutely crazy! Who wouldn’t like to have this!! So I bought one...

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase.

I look forward to your posts in the future as your investment goes up in value over the next few years. Perhaps you could share your post with the guy who was wondering how to finance the purchase of his first Ferrari!

This book may be a "must have" for a fan of the work of Mark Newsom (perhaps I am uninformed but I do not know anything about him) but as a Ferrari fan, I am yet to be convinced that this is something that needs to take up space in my home. I admit that I am not convinced by Opus either and believe that price is what you pay and that value is what you get. There does not seem, to me, to be much value in a big book in a needless display stand.

I am more than happy to be persuaded otherwise.
