My apologies for asking something slightly off-track, but one of the earliest BBR Quattroruotine models (QR-22) was of a 250 TdF driven by Dan Gurney at the Phoenix Valley of The Sun race in March 1958. It was the 1957 Salon de Paris car, chassis # 0753, silver, 3-vent wearing the race number 171.

I am looking for a photo or photos of the car from that race, since BBR would have had to used some sort of image as a guide in making the model of this car from such an obscure race.

I assume that there must be a picture in some magazine, yearbook or such that was used in the creation of the model sometime in the late eighties or early nineties. I have failed to find any pictures in any of the periodicals from early 1958, and have had no reply from my inquiry to BBR. Any help would be appreciated.

Turning off the heating is a very quick and er.. convenient process:

    - pull over
    - stop and get out of car
    - unlatch hood strap
    - rotate hood catch
    - walk around to the other side of the car
    - unlatch hood strap
    - rotate hood catch
    - lift off hood
    - find somewhere safe to put hood
    - close small tap with 5 points (centre of pic)
    - replace hood
    - reverse strap/catch routine
    - get back in car
    - carefully rejoin road

You know what? I wouldn't have it any other way.

What holds the tap up or where it is? Can't see any bracket. Surely the hoses are not the only method of support?

Yes just hoses. Hoses are firm and tap is made of a light alloy of some sort.

The valve should be closer to the fender wall where the hose to the cockpit is fixed with a bracket.

Yes, I believe the TdFs had both types, I have a period picture from March 1958 of Mrs Marchi, the wife of the first owner of 0895gt, Cesare Marchi, getting into the car. In the picture you can see the passenger's side visor is partially down showing the solid type originally installed and currently in the car.
The fun of Ferrari chat is that every small detail is challenged and rightfully so!

Yes I believe that is more common, but I am told it was done both ways, this is how it came back from the factory after the restoration and classiche.

    Ferrari World...
I saw the car in the Auto Tour. She is currently covered with a covering (too blue-purple and too glittery in my opinion) which replicates the configuration of the 1957 Tour Auto. You can see in various places the red and blue paint.

Wheels care of Ruote Borrani Milano. They are functional and beautiful.

As seen on 0895gt and as delivered "Pneumatici e route: 16x5.50 RW 3264 cromate"

If anyone has a pic of Phil Hill's 250 GT from 1957 Tour de France # 172, please post thanks :)

I'm curious if it was red.

0607GT was red during the 1957 Tour de France.

Period photos are in black and white.
