0503 GT was badly crashed during the May 1990 Mille Miglia. This is why Bob Smith Coachworks completely rebodied the car (in 1990-1991) back to the original body configuration. Then-owner Robert Gregory re-appeared with the car 21 May 1992 at the MM. See also "Forza" Magazine, issue #65 of November 2005. Marcel Massini

They were also proud (as was I) to see the car in 2017 Ferrari official calendar! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have loads of photographs taken of the 250 GT Tour de France and will post them when I have chance. I have identities for most of the cars I have seen but not this one. Picture was taken on 6 July 1997 at the UK Ferrari Owners Club National Meet at Castle Ashby. At some point in the past I have written on the back "possibly 1309". I guess this was based on the fact that Talacrest had 1309GT on sale in 1997. Robert Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, it is my car... I,ve owned the car since 1978... Have driven it continually up to 1995 when I parked it because of the motors excessive blow by....about 1 1/2 years ago we decided it was time to restore the car...we're in its final stages now...will update as I can...
Some more from my collection: 0515GT, 0585GT, 0607GT, 0647GT and 0677GT. Robert Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The second to last is not 0647 but a replica according to those in the know. Don't know from the top of my head which chassisnumber the pictured car uses.
1051 GT Guys. Thank you for this information. I took the photograph at the UK Ferrari Owners Club National Meet at Walton Hall, on July 2, 2006. The entry for what I assumed was this car is shown below. Was 0647 there and I missed it or is there more to this than I realise? Sorry if this has been discussed before. If 0647 still exists and the car in my photograph is 1051 then why is it listed as 0647. What is the connection between the two cars and how/why is there an incorrect chassis number printed in the list of concours entries? Robert Image Unavailable, Please Login
This car, in this guise,at this angle...covered headlights...single louvre... Just work your way back over that beautiful long nose to tail, over every sculpted curve, proportioned so perfectly...i'm in love... Credit to DK or Tim Scott or GFW who took this... Paul Image Unavailable, Please Login
Gentlemen. Again I apologise for bringing up a topic that has already been discussed at length. Thank you for pointing out my mistake. Thank you also for being gentle with me and not treating me like the uninformed idiot I clearly am! I feel considerable embarrassment that I have, even in good faith, posted a photograph on this thread that really should not be there. I took the chassis number from information supplied at the time by the event organiser and had not checked it since. I guess that even this does not count as being a reliable source of information, even though it clearly should have been. I do however recognise that I should have checked further. I am beginning to realise that there are no absolutely reliable sources of information available to me and this fills me with despair. I often feel out of my depth in the deep waters of Ferrari research and this just highlights how difficult it can be for someone like me who just wants to put identities to cars that I have photographed over the years. When I posted a previous picture of what I thought was 1309GT I said that I was not sure. Perhaps I should have put a question mark after everything I have posted? I was a little unsure of the reference by Bira (in post #393) to post #54. I assumed that it meant #54 in this thread but could see no connection between that post and my mistake. I have been through all the posts in the "Official Ferrari 250 Tour de France picture thread" several times and there are no obvious references to the car (1051) that I had photographed. I have since discovered another thread: "250 TdF Pics" (started in August 2009 but unused since September 2014) and here post #54 clearly does relate to 0647 and 1051. Had I been aware of this other thread I would have seen all about the issues relating to this car and saved myself from being left red faced to the point that I am reluctant to share any further pictures of cars, in case they turn out to be based on a Vauxhall Nova! Is someone able to tell me, please, why there are two almost identical threads that have not been merged? Several contributors have posted to both and there is some duplication of photographs. Perhaps I have missed something here but surely in the future things like this are just going to cause more confusion? I had wondered if I should delete my photograph to lessen my embarrassment but decided that by leaving it there, with the subsequent clarification, it may save someone else from repeating my error. Once again, my apologies. Robert P.S. Interestingly, the "250 TdF pics" thread, starts with pictures of another replica!
Sorry when I referred to post #54 I could not check which thread it was as I went directly to a google search and not a Fchat search. But I remembered very well the post of Ed Niles and his comments on the car being dismantled and the picture he provided speak by itself. I think your contribution, don't be red faced, shows how complex are the history of those cars and the risk that fakes come up, if people are not aware of the past. Before we all embarked in another discussion on same car, I also thought better to start from where we stopped last time,,no hard feeling , just visual memory!
Hello Robert, I think you're being too harsh on yourself. If I hadn't known about Alun's experience and the whereabouts of the real 0647, I would have drawn the same conclusions as you. We learn all the time. Even from our mistakes. In the end it's about having fun trying to identify these great machines. Here's 0647 which resides in The Netherlands. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry. I should have specified that it was my PHOTOGRAPH collection! If only! If only I owned all of the cars I have photographed. The ones posted in this forum so far would just be the 14 louvre cars, then there would be all of the other TdFs! Then there are the 250 LMs (although some of these I know are dubious). Then there would be the 27 250/330 GTO/LMBs I have seen. Then there would be the even numbered cars. Finally there would be the 100+ single seaters. I would have more posts on here relating to my collection than the Sultan of Brunei! Robert
Peter. Thank you. I just wish that I had shown that picture to a friend, over a coffee, who had told me the story behind that car, rather than share it with a worldwide forum where the contributors and readers are renowed experts in the field! I still do not understand how the car could be listed as the reconstructed 0647 at that event, when the car was known to be in NL. I guess bad people will always try to do bad things. Robert
