07529 at Gooding & Company Amelia Island auction, Est. $1.300.000 - $1.600.000. It's sad to see such a beautiful car in this condition. Hope the new owner will bring it back to original specification. I am curious for how much 07529 will be auctioned. Well, it's gonna need at least $ 800 Grand for a total ground-up restoration and will still have a non-original, restamped engine. Marcel Massini
I hadn’t received quotes quite that high for restoration but it was going to take a significant effort plus time to get it proper (not withstanding the nom engine as you pointed out). I dropped out at 1m thinking that was all the money and two other guys stayed in so apparently the issues didn’t bother them as much. Personally I’d rather buy one finished and use it now but if the deal was right it’d make a fun driver… eventually.
A first class, high end, nut and bolt restoration from ground up on a 275 GTB will cost at least 800 Grand. Ask Paul Russell and Company in Essex, MA, or MPI Motion Products Inc. in Neenah, WI. Or Mark Allin's Rare Drive, Inc., in East Kingston, NH. Or Butch Dennison's Dennison International in Puyallup, WA. Or Bob Smith Coachworks in Gainesville, TX. All of these are the best in USA. And I haven't even mentioned yet David Carte's Classic & Sport Auto Refinishing, Inc., in Edinburg, VA. Or ask Cognolato in Padova, Italy, or ask Brandoli and Cremonini in Modena, or Quality Cars in Italy. This car has been completely dismantled for 44 years (1978 to 2022) and then hastily "re-assembled" in January, just to offer it at the sale in Amelia and make it more sellable. Marcel Massini
And that makes it up to $2m, what a restored one is worth today (or a bit more) in 2 years it might be a $2.5m car owing this buyer $2m. Notwithstanding Putin's attempt to derail the world I don't think this buyer will end up underwater. Except for the engine #, but maybe a Classiche will get it half way home on that issue.
I know where the original matching numbered engine is. Next step will be to find a way to get it. Quite a task. Marcel Massini
Just posted by DK Engineering, market value here ?? Quoted by DK as " RHD Ferrari 275 GTB, “Long Nose” 2 Cam but with a Torque Tube. 1 of just 8 built ". Nice blue interior as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
the complete frame made out of this torque tube? normaly torque tube or torque bar is used as torsion springs
The torque tube (about 75 mm diameter) refers to a tube that houses the driveshaft from the motor to the transaxle. The tube has flanges at each end - one bolts to the motor bell-housing; the other to the transaxle case. Within this tube, the slender driveshaft is rigidly coupled with splined fittings to the clutch output shaft, and the transaxle input shaft. At the middle of the driveshaft length, there is a center support ball bearing, the housing of which bolts to the tube. With this tube, the motor and transaxle are tied into a rigid group, floating on the the two motor mounts and the two transaxle mounts. The torque tube works to keep the driveshaft always aligned between the motor and the transaxle, eliminating vibration. The torque tube reference has nothing to do with the frame tubing or the suspension.
You are assuming that there will be some level of appreciation. The market for Enzo-era series production cars has been treading water for awhile now.
275’s and dino’s seem to have increased in values in the last 2 yrs. dinos especially have a frenzied buyer stream.
