Can be done unintentionally on hilly country road not designed for the immediate acceleration capabilities of such a car.

I couldn't agree more. When I specced my 458, the very first thing I told the salesman was "NO ****ing Scuderia shields".

He proceeded to tell me how bad that was for resale, and I proceeded to not care.

I just spent @ $5k to replace the aero bridges on my F12 just to remove the shields.

<Almost> every time I see the Scuderia shields on a car, I think of every Italian guy to whom I've sold a gold necklace over the years ...:D:D

I really don’t understand why the “no shields brigade” feel it necessary to spontaneously insult the people who happen to like shields on their Ferrari’s.
Can’t one just say they prefer their car without?

Sometimes no shields is better than those small metal shields on those big 812 fenders trying to contain that V12 motori.
Conversely the large painted shields on a 488 fender look like 20 pounds of flour in a 10 pound bag... :D
Those metal shields are part of the Ferrari heritage so buying them is like you are paying extra 'alms' to Ferrari, recognizing that historical context.

Just be thankful the idea of putting the SF shields in the middle of the door didn't catch on like the 1963 250LM illustrates.

Sanity returns with the placement of the SF shields on the bodywork in front of the door on this 330 P3. Imagine if this 330 series became the inspiration for a new Ferrari Icona series model....

I wasn't attempting to 'insult' those who prefer them any more than I was 'insulting' guys who wear their gold necklaces outside side their shirts- I was merely expressing that I don't prefer the way they look in most cases. You may be taking my comments too seriously- perhaps you missed my smiley emojis ?

In an Oct 2017 Autocar interview with Manzoni:

[Do you have a favourite Ferrari designer from the past? Can you pick one or two favourites?

I really love the work of Aldo Brovarone. Brovarone was the designer of many beautiful Ferraris. His Dino was just absolutely beautiful. My favourite Ferrari that he designed is the 330 P3-P4.]

IMO the Ferrari 330 P3-P4 are the most beautiful race cars ever designed. Everyone should take inspiration from them as they are so right. If Manzoni tried to copy it in an Icona series it would be superfluous and irrelevant at best. The real cars are the sum of the parts and copying bodylines or whatever and putting a production chassis underneath would be sacrilege. I hope he doesn't but I bet he does. Just don't put one next to an original!
