Stupid question. How did you upload a high res image? Every time I try no matter what the size, it's still the same small poor res image as always.
When I spot an image from flickr, I click on it, I select from down left to download it and then 'view all sizes'. Above the image there are all the available resolutions. Pick a HD one and uploaded it to forum. Image Unavailable, Please Login Photo byK Lee Photography
The aluminum looks very close to argento. I think the aluminum looks awesome but I'm missing all the hoopla over it - why all the fanfare? Sent from my BBB100-3 using Tapatalk
Difference between a supermodel in a bikini or lingerie. Both work pretty well. This shot from the last page on the thread shows the difference. It shows the "grains" of the metal.
The hoopla is not just about the stunning appearance. It is also about the meticulous care that would have been required to build it - all panels and joins needed to be flawless Degree of difficulty: 11 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Can you elaborate on this? Did they alter the process for this one compared to all the other tdfs? Sent from my BBB100-3 using Tapatalk
Yes. First off the process began at Scaglietti. When they make the aluminum body shells they allow for a certain degree of flaws and imperfections. All are hidden by primer and paint so it's not a big deal. For my body shell, it needed to be filler-free and as perfect as possible. The building of the shell alone took a full month to do before it headed to Zanasi. Once at Zanasi the car then had the aluminum brushed for a more textured finish as well as a semi gloss clear coat. This is also where the bumpers were painted and then brushed as well to best match the bare aluminum. In addition to this, the entire body shell skipped the dips for rust protection and whatever else those body dips do. All that stuff had to be applied by hand without getting on the bare body panels. Once of course the body prep was done, it went done the assembly line just like all the rest.
Oh wow that's awesome. Thanks for the explanation. What did they charge you for this? Sent from my BBB100-3 using Tapatalk
Yes and no. Depends what ur cup of tea is. It's cool enough but don't think I wld have paid for it if I knew it was an option. I prefer my traditional argento and if I want to see weave I'll look at my f40. Sent from my BBB100-3 using Tapatalk
That is what's been great about the TDF owners fraternity. Everyone's doing what they like. Ron's bare aluminium car doesn't diminish your argento - it's also cool. But there is only one bare aluminium TDF, and that is a simple (and special) fact. Be pleased for him, and acknowledge his boldness, I say. Then go enjoy whatever floats your own boat too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It cost $50k as an upcharge. Expensive but considering triple layer paint and a custom color start at around $20-25k and escalate to $30-35k then the $50k they charged me was a bit of a bargain.
I was about to say that's not "bad" at all, especially for something so eminently unique. It's in the top 2 TdF spec for me (your's and Traveller's spec are tied for no. 1). If I had the means, I would like to think I'd do something like that, but the maintaining the finish would have me worried.
