Good morning race fans, The news from Hockenheim is that a wet race is more than possible. Some forecasts predict rain showers today, but right now the morning is just as benign as yesterdays when conditions were occasionally overcast but always warm. The ambient temperature high has been revised downwards from 26 degrees Celsius but is still expected to be around 22. If it does rain in the race, however, bear in mind that Ferrari are the only team this year known to have run meaningful mileage in the wet, after specially soaking Fiorano. BRING ON THE legendary BRIDGESTONE intermediate tyre!!! RAIN RAIN RAIN! Regen Regen Regen! Pioggia Pioggia Pioggia! Ferrari 1 - 2! (way too much coffee, way too early in the morning and without any sleep)
Good morning Imperial - Just got finished watching the last 15 minutes of the GP2 race. Lots of clouds overhead but no rain. Race should start in about 20 minutes, I'll be watching it on the computer. Let's hope for a good start - I suspect that Alonso will try to split Kimi and Button. Montoya should make it up to 16th fairly quickly but hopefully Rubens will provide a roadblock. I also suspect Kimi will be carrying lots of fuel whereas Michael may be running lighter. Unfortunately the computer lacks Steve Matchett and his technological knowledge. I'll be cheering for Ferrari despite the race favorites. Carol it's down to 7 minutes to go - anyone else on here this morning ??? Rob?? Malc?? currently showing a track temp of 34C and air temp of 23C, dry conditions - time to start the rain dance routine
What a start - I wish I was sitting in the stands there instead of here in hot, humid central Texas! Sato and Trulli apparently tangled - Sato getting front wing replaced; Alonso split Kimi and Button, Michael challenging Alonso; Massa and Dc passing Fisi; Webber with some sort of mechanical difficulty in the pits; Webber & Trulli with mechanical problems; Minardi in 10th; Montoya flying into P9; Jacques coming together with Doornbos when he tried to pass; Webber out; Michael 4.9 behind Kimi. Wow what an exciting beginning!!! Carol
Replay shows that Sato had a collision with the rear of Fisi. That rolling accident just waiting to happen needs to go elsewhere next year! There's too many good GP2 players to replace him! Looks like Webber might rejoin but will be > 4 laps down - they could view it as a testing session and at least get credit for a finish. Montoya can't seem to get past Fisi - go Fisi go!!!! Current predicition is for no rain - that's not good. Rubens is staying constant in 12th - 33+ seconds behind Kimi - hopefully that attributed to LOTS of fuel. Carol they just said the Sato hit Fisi at the start - Doornbos is under investigation by stewards
Kimi is the fastest guy on the track, but he is able to stay out later than all the other front runners.
'Morning Rob Kimi must have a jet engine afixed to that frame! Now he's a 1:14.873 with Alonso 33.6 secs back Carol
Good Morning Carol, I would like to agree but it just shows how much more dominant the McLaren is over every one else. Rubens and JPM have yet to stop Kimi just stopped so that is where his speed came from.
Michael back into 3rd - JV collides with Jordan - he and Sato must be trying for the most number of points allocated for wrecks in a single race! Hope Jenson keeps his lead (increases) over Montoya - looks like Montoya is starting to close the gap a bit. Button was 1.7 down on Michael but now at 1.0. Carol
OH **** - Kimi just grounded to a halt on the track. If it weren't for bad luck he wouldn't have any luck at all. Carol
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn it Kimi needs better reliability. He must be Alonso this season, and the hopes of that are flying away.
Looks like Alonso is this year's champion. McLaren's (Kimi's) margin for error was nil and that just went out of the race with him. He has had soooo much hard luck with McLaren...time to change to Ferrari.
