Episode 2 Bad guy tries to steal the 308. Is easily arrested when he can’t figure out what the third pedal is for
WHY does Hollywood have this knee-jerk reaction that every-time there is an exotic car in a show/movie.... it has to be wrecked immediately?
It gives the people that do nothing but sit around and watch tv rather than make something of themselves something to cheer for. Nobody deserves to drive a Ferrari.
Let's see: shoot up and trash a 488. Do a completely stupid and useless stunt and total the 308. Then they say the got the gold back - yeah, down the side of that hill? Useless, not worth watching any further for me.
I agree: I hate seeing Ferraris getting wrecked, even if CGI. But on the other hand, how many other shows have cars of any note, let alone Ferraris? CGI and/or cloned would not have been allowed in Enzo's day. The Mayor: great remark!! Actors can't drive manuals these days. As I was watching I told my wife to observe that there not be one shot where he was actually shifting. At least Don Johnson could. Millennial anti-theft device: manual trans
I have to disagree.....multiple shots of the shifter. Maybe you are too old and fell asleep. (Gramps always do that watching tv) You guys are being haters! I was actually impressed that they even bothered to make a shot that showed the manual. So I’m calling BS and a shout out to the filmography. So while not perfect, the new Magnum can navigate the shift gate and flappy paddles. They left the Cali for girls. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Some great shots of the various cars in motion but might be one of the worst TV shows/reboots ever made.
I have been working on the show since late June, we have three Ferrari ‘s two 488, one California. The 488 are an amazing car we abuse the with short drives, constant reversing, lighting and camera equipment, They never fail us. If anyone here is in Honolulu anytime let me know if you would like to visit the set. Daniel.
Thanks Daniel, I wish I could take you up on the offer! I'll settle for some show swag though We miss the 308 for sure but I would not mind seeing the 488 becoming an iconic car.

The new "magnum" is 5'7" 140 lbs. He's no Tom Selleck and the girl is taller than him. She is no Hillerman,Higgins
The "Old days"--- driving someone else's Ferrari around Hawaii solving crimes was pretty cool "Today" -- Crash those suckers! We need ACTION! I can't imagine what the future brings in the world of "entertainment"...
For some reason I can't even see the show listed in my guide. Although it appears I'm not missing much.
Thanks for the insider update! It sounds like the 488 is going to be Magnum's car going forward? Is the 308 finished (not going to appear any more) in the new series?
This is great that you're sharing some "behind-the-scenes" material. Thanks! We visit HNL annually. If filming is taking place next June/July, I'll bug you for a tour . Mahalo!
we just watched it. both enjoyed it. When recorded and being able to fast forward commercials, it’s a pleasant 1/2 hour with some cute nostalgia. I think we remember the original with rose colored glasses.. some episodes were dogs.
costs/benefits analysis. escapist entertainments do better when they draw in more eyeballs. Scenes are more dramatic when things blow up. bigger=better. no one cares if a Camry blows up. Put in a Ferrari and it's spectacular. off the top of my head shows where an exotic is destroyed Miami Vice (Daytona), The Rock (F355), Ferris Bueller (250GT), Back to the Future (DeLorean), Gone in 60 seconds (many), Italian Job (Lambo), Risky Business (928), Magnum PI (new) shows where an exotic is not destroyed Fast Furious (F355), Scent of a Woman (Mondial), and of course (the reason for this thread) Magnum PI (old) I would argue that the movies where exotics are destroyed is no less entertaining than their counterpart.
I was a huge Magnum PI fan in my childhood. I remember watching an awards show of some sort. Tom Selleck was the Hollywood flavor of the moment and won a few... After a couple times up on the stage, my mom says; 'I think I need to start watching that show.' We did, and loved it. I also recall Tom taking over Burt Reynold's spot as America's heart throb. He held on until Miami Vice stole his thunder. At least that is what I remember? The new show is well done, but it has had the following result... Next time I stop by Target, I will be buying the original series complete box set.
