    Molto interesante.....
I can fly in the kids and wife to Vegas....roadtrip it myself with you and my trusty V1. Once there, I can split the time between social events and family events. Everybody happy !
I think I will take the Maser, though. The Ferrari w/o A/C in Vegas might not be that much fun.

I'm debating trucking the car, and flying down. If I fly, room for 3 or 4 more people.

Luke - Just FWIW, the normal high temp here for the Rampage dates is 80, low is 56. Maybe not as bad as you would think.

My other excuse is that I would want to sign up for one of Roland's courses. Doing it in a 40 year old car might not be as safe, or as fun, as in a more modern machine with 390 hp. Maybe if the 250 did not just get a primo repaint, I would use it for more than just touring and shows...

V-man - I got the towing all figured out on the 550. Gotta cut the bumper.

Art - you lazy old man. Last night's pep talk better have inspired you to drive. Don't gimme any of that crap.

So send-off is via Andretti. What route from there? Do we go south, meet with so-cal on 15 and loop back up, or do we cross yosemite (hah, V-man says no question I bet)?

I actually got the OK last night. I brought it up right after doing the dishes, haaa !!! I do have to find a spa/massage, but it is settled. They are flying, I am driving. I am interviewing navigators as we speak...anjd shopping for cheap fares to Vegas on United, or maybe Gary can fly us in bulk, diverting one of those 747s he has been hauling to depots.

On an unrelated note: I do have 3 Wellesley students staying at my house tonight. Wife, as the alumna, agreed to house them after their choir performance. On a related topic, I might need Dan or Faisal, as I am having a little trouble with the web cams.....

Wrong, it's just a question how to drive an older F car !!! You got to take it easier and use the double clutch to "respect" the car's age.Got to get in the mind stage from 40 years ago..

most of my track experience is in an early 70s or late 60s Alfa.....I am cogniscant that after Barber, Formula 4 track day, club events, and go karts, I still know nothing. I promise to be a humble student, in either car. I am assuming that there will be a driver's school event at the rampage, or is that still in question?
I plan to fly in the wife, so whatever car I take will have to serve as the family car. I had the baby seats in the Ferrari for the trip to Concorso Italiano, but the CFO expressed clear preference for the Maser as the get around car in Nevada.

Norm: done. I'll make the call tonight! :D

Luke: so, uh, yeah, tonight karting isn't a good night huh? If you need help... :D Maser is practical, but how can you possibly not bring the silver bullet? Maybe your navigator needs to become a driver... don't tell her until you're there, and say you brought her one too! ;)

choir students are trouble though. my sister was performer, hell, even i was a choir student (of some repute!) in high school.

Roland: don't worry - we've got v-man all figured out. i have an emergency pod for the bike-rack on the 550 so we can put him up top inside (with a cool periscope too!) and a hidden tow mechanism to trundle the 355! :D

I'm glad you have that much faith in me and my car. I'll get spare alternator rebuilt and I WILL be carrying (wine that is). I'll save you a special bottle.

Third time is a charm Roland, looking forward to seeing you in Vegas, save a few minutes for me in that LM.

so if we were to caravan, how much time do we need? Anybody thought about routes, "protection", and possibly a break in the 10 hour drive (I am sure it will take most of you 6, but....)

Vincent would be most apt to say, but there are two general possibilities:

    1) we scoop down 5, and then curve up towards 15. Faster, and we'd have a chance if timed right to meet up with the SoCal boys running 15.

    2) We cruise through yosemite, across and down (6W to 195S I think) - which will run us through yosemite (scenic), and also just past death valley.

The second will allow for a more comfortable, relaxed pace and have a good break-point, while the first is meant for a blast-and-dash.

Thoughts? Naturally, V1s, police scanners, laser jammers, walkie-talkies, full cell phone lists (on your phone and in paper), etc. are in order.

Luke- For the cause, I will offer my IT skills, I am sure we can deliver an effective solution tailored to your specific needs which will leave you eupohoric in the quality of your expierence.

With V1s, no way this will take longer than a day. I get 14MPG at 100mph. We'll pass everything on the road buy a gas station. Does Nevada extradite?

Dan- I don't EVEN want to know what sort of flute you played with in choir...

Art- let me know if you want a co-almost-pilot.

    V-man! "I need a 12-pack of Ferrari Alternators, and a funnel!"
