Upon inquiry, here's what I got from Ferrari Customer Care: "Thank you for contacting us. As per your request we would like to inform you that up to today 1500 Challenge Stradale have been built and of those approximately 350 have been delivered to the United States market with U.S. specifics. Should you have further doubts or questions do not hesitate to contact us again. Our best regards, Ferrari Customer Care" P.S. I followed up asking them if they are still building CSs. I'll let you know if I hear anything. BTW, I'm not certain this affects value too much. Most Ferrari experts I speak with say the CS may be the best Ferrari ever built. I've also heard that Enzo owners often prefer their CS over their Enzo for street use. Several collectors have also mentioned the CS is a better car than the F40, primarily due to it's modern F1 technology. Although magazines are carefully avoiding comparing the CS with the 430, Motor Trend, in their review of the 430, slipped "The F430 doesn't turn in as sharply or as quickly as the race-face 360 Challenge Stradale, but the steering response and feel have been improved over the standard Modena's". I realize that the 430 may accelerate faster than the CS (at least to 60). But, I suspect unless a 430 CS is built, the current CS will remain a very different and special car for the enthusiast.
I agree 1000%. I just sold mine. Damn! Damn! Damn! BTW, the offical name is Ferrari Challenge Stradale, not the 360 Challenge Stradle. Picky, picky, picky. I know, but there are those who care.
well, we finally have some numbers from the horse's mouth! so it looks like they upped production by 66% over the initial estimates of 900, but they only upped US deliveries by about 17% over the initial estimates of 300. i'm curious whether that 350 number is actualy "US" or "NA". who sent this to you? someone from FNA or FSpA? wattster says it best: "the challenge stradale is a lightning bolt from the hand of g-d." it's a stellar car. just mind-bendingly great. i love mine to death. i'm such a lucky boy! drove her to work today in the drizzle and rain. life is GOOD! doody.
That's exactly the reason I didn't want one! I wish they had made a 6-speed (ie, manual) version... btw, I'm surprised more CS units didn't make it to the US. I thought the US market accounted for approx. one third of Ferrari sales. I don't know why the CS would have been any different.
i shared your opinion in spades. 1000 miles behind the wheel and i can't imagine changing anything. the word on the street is that the factory apparently offered six speeds to key customers (you and i don't count) but nobody took them up on it. doody.
can we have another "i love my CS so much I'm peeing in my pants thread"? why doody even got his car wet!!!!!!! not in LA baby. Ask and you shall receive!!!! a "lightweight" sports car concept!!! just try driving your GT3 and CS back to back on bumpy mountain roads as i did last week. the difference is rather astounding, noticeable even to myself. the difference narrows, not as extreme on a nice, smooth track where GT3 and 2's excel. i was going to lightweight this GT3, but why bother? i just bought a 73RS 2130# clone instead. the CS is the ultimate modern near LW... as you can see by the weight of the 430 and 997, micheal moore is the style of the future. the only things i would change on a CS: lighter weight radio you could plug in/out like a radar detector CF bonnet have same quick shifts in regular mode as race mode, just soften the suspension. never use regular mode because of those shifts. more elastic storage things http://www.fast-autos.net/ferrari/ferraristradale.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
your local audio shop can do this for you. i've seen some really nice installs with quick-disconnects and whatnot. neat stuff. although for you, why not just duct tape all the crap on and you can pull it up whenever necessary? should be pretty straightforward to get a bolt-on aftermarket part, right? hear hear. in fact that should just be a programming change - maybe someone at some dealer will hack the code and let us do that. that'd be stellar. hear hear again. i do get tired of listening to all my crap in the door tray knocking around. doody!
doo-doo ron-ron, do you think my factory radio and speakers can be removed, leaving no trace? or will i have to cover the holes with duct tape???
That's exactly my solution... for long trips, I bring an iPod for music and a bring a ear piece for my cell phone that has an FM radio, just in case I need a traffic report.
Sorry for bumping an old thread but I have to have that picture in higher resolution, puh-leeeeease.
What was the MSRP for the Stradale, did it change throughout production? I am currently looking but would like a baseline to start with thanks,
I have owned two 360 Spiders the most recent a 2004. Yesterday I drove Ben's CS and I was surprised how well the car performed. It blew my socks off. Absolutely an amazing car! Except for riding comfort (you really feel and HEAR the road) the CS is infinitely better than the 360. I will be curious as to how my 430 will compare.
Info in this month's EVO mag indicates 1200 Challenge Stradales were built; http://70.85.40.84/~ferrari/forum/showthread.php?t=50115
hey giuseppe, can u send high rez of that pic. i used to have 2 of them, but i lost them when i was forced to format my computer this week. so if u could send them to me then that would be nice
here's some comments posted two weeks ago by chalstrad: Well now to some real, day-to-day truths instead of the usual journalistic nonsense! I have 2 friends who both own Stradales (as well as both owning Enzos), and these guys use 'em each Enzo has 15000 kms + and one of the guys is already on his 2nd CS as the first one had too many kms on it for his liking! They recently each took delivery of their F430s and their opinions are identical. To meander around town, go out to dinner, use as a daily driver the F430 is great. The extra torque is useful, the CS-like gearbox is super BUT, and it is a big full-bodied BUT, in terms of sheer driving excitement, liveliness and whatever it is that leaves you breathless, the CS is in a class of its own. They both comment that the F430 is somewhat "sterile" wher the CS has soul. Both have F430 spiders coming in April and feel that the improvements will be better suited to the spider as it's use is less "intense"
