i love the R8 excited to drive one in 6 speed.

 

The R8 is such an amazing car but for the price, there is some very strong competition there.

If the car were 10k cheaper, it would suddenly make a far more compelling case but where it is, it will be delegated to gorgeous exotic from Audi but ultimately above the price of its intended audience.

Those with that kind of money would like something more "exotic" for their money unless they are AUdi fanatics like some memers...

 

I don't know...At $130,000 I'd guess the competition is:

Porsche Turbo
Aston DB9 or V8
Merc SL65
Bentley GT?

I just find it interesting that two of four are also owned by VW. But in the end, I don't think it's about how many cars they sell. It's a halo car for Audi.

 

dont forget the GT3 and GT3 RS. I think the SL 65 is out of its league. SL65 goes for 180+ the SL 55 and the M6 are within the same category.

They're priced similarly but I don't know if they're direct competition. Even with the adjustable suspension in it now, the 997 GT3 is still a pretty hard-edged car by all accounts. When I picked up my 996 GT3 at Porsche Roslyn, they had a 997 GT3 that the buyer had returned after 2 weeks. Too loud, too stiff, too low.

i have an s4 and an a8l and theyre great cars. i just got a new gt3 which i also love. i dont know what i would have done if r8 was available now at similar price to gt3.
