Unfreakingbelievable. I've read about this car but never seen the video clip. Must be about 1/5 scale?

Its 1/3 scale. Thats pretty big. It really is outstanding. I remember hearing about this masterpiece a long time ago.

I saw it at the Classic Car show in the UK several years ago...back wheels jacked up, in gear and engine running at some ridiculous speed (over 10,000 if I remember correctly)...it was amazing.

I believe it was recently sold as the guy wanted to move onto his next project. Can't remember where, but it fetched about 13,000 pound sterling if I remember correctly....anybody know anymore?

This site reckons its in private hands and the owner has already turned down $500,000 for it. I can't remember where I saw the £13,000...perhaps it was the reserve or something....

Yes, Fine-Art Models in the Detroit area owns the car.

 

It was featured in a Top Gear episode once. Quite amazing, it even sounded like a proper 312PB.

 

Hello FNG here, okay a long time ago i saw a video of a gentlemen who
spent 15,000 hours building from the ground up (this is were things get vague) i think a dino. He custom built the valve springs the entire motor even
the starter that would engage the crank from the rear of the car. Ferrari even
sent him the original plans for the car which he then converted them to scale.
This is one of the greatest builds I have ever seen, to top it off I saw the video of the car. Two people were needed to start it. One person would ensure the transmission was in neutral and would depress the clutch and turn on the ignition.
The second person had the starter. AWESOME.

Does anyone have, or know where i could get this video or info.

I think you are refering to the allegriti built P4 for kids. Allegreti built the original bodies for the P4 which was designed by Drogo. Allegreti also built the original bodies for Californias & several other historic Ferraris

there is a whole write up, interviews and pictures on this car in one of the older Rosso Mag's. Probably about 2 years ago........ i may have it at home somewhere.

 

I think he's talking about the 1/4 scale 312 P. I have it on my HD but it's pretty big so email is probably out.

This guy is unbelievable. I wish somebody would publish a better copy of the movie. Talk about focus and dedication.

That's insane... I couldn't ever build anything like that, because if I did, and something happened to it, I'd have to kill myself. There'd just be no other option.

Looks to me a massive elaboration and correction to some larger scale plastic or resin kit, with a substantial number of scratch-built parts.

Alright, that's really amazing BUT it's only the second best I have ever seen. Anyone remember the guy who built that 60's Ferrari race car from scratch that actually worked? It was like a 1/18 scale with a freaking running engine and everything. I think it took him 15 years to make it. It's right up there with the pyramids as far as man made wonders go. I thing it was in Rosso Ferrari about 1997.
