Good Morning Ferrari Fans, It has been a tough weekend so far but I am sure that Michael and Rubens can still turn out a good result. The Istanbul Park is an absolute gem and the organisers / developers should be congratulated on their achievement. Ferrari have changed the engine being used Michael Schumacher so as to give him the advantage of a fresh engine. This will mean that he starts the race from P19. The makings of an epical race for the greatest racer ever! 2 hours till the green light! Forza Ferrari!
Just getting ready for the GP2 race. Its gonna be the first GP2 race I've watched, so I'm interested to see what these cars are like. Track is currently wet, cars fitted with wet tires. Varsha just noted however that the skies are clearing. Is this GP2 race live, or did it take place earlier this morning? How much of a time difference is there between the GP2 and F1 races? How about the forecast for today? I think that rain may throw a huge wrench into things, and give Michael a chance to show his skills in the rain. But coming from the back of the grid is gonna be very difficult, especially if its wet. The spray at 16th place is just rediculous.
Karnak the magnificent is predicting high attrition. (Have to get T8 right lap after lap after lap --- even Michael the driving robot messed that one up.) I'm guessing that the Williams cars will have a good result. They can't get fast enough to have trouble with turn 8.
Good morning Impy - sounds like you might be in Turkey this weekend? Hope the new engine will be a benefit for MS. The GP2 race was great as usual and Nico is wonderful as is the Finn. Those two have a great future ahead of them. Hoping for a good race today. Carol Good to see MS up to 11th - interesting radio communication telling Fisi to let Alonso past - puncture already for Nick - they should have given free tickets to this race - stands appear pretty sparse but it looks like they adopted the idea of painting seating so that it appears there are spectators! Webber seems to be on a roll !
I am in the Middle East, but no where near Istanbul. Watching the race from a hotel lobby bar with WiFi access. Looking at the pictures... I wish I was there. But I need to do some work this year Mike Tyson is at the track too and many local soccer stars!
Parade lap is underway...all cars away safely. Air 30 degrees C, track 46. Vast crowds for Turkey's first ever Grand Prix. The track might be slightly altered due to the heavy rain in the morning that led to an eventful GP2 race.
The 'Shipping' of the F1 equipment instead of driving required the 3 week layoff. I thought they could 'fly' the equipment if it was a normal 2 week period. They mentioned driving would be faster but involve too many countries. Michael changed an engine, if your at the back of the grid you are at the back of grid. Michael drove through some debri. stephen Michael 11th now!
Made it thru turn 1 cleanly for the most part. One of the Sauber's had an off in 1, spraying bits of carbon all over. Hopefully that doesn't affect anything. Fisi got a GREAT start, got by KR. KR got back by on lap 1. Those Renaults are going at it. Alonso past GF on "team orders".
Impy - you going to be at Spa?? Another puncture - another rt rear for Williams. Stands look sparse spectator wise - they should have offered free tickets!! but - the creative painting in the stands makes it appear there's lots of folks there. Carol
Flat right rear on Webber! Boy, whats up with the right rear's on the Williams? Michelin engineers said they were worried about something about turn 13? Unfortunatly, turn 13 IS a chicane, so they can't ask for that. Looks like MW lost the tire in turn 8, so I don't know if he ran something over or what.
Button appears to be on a charge but can he get past the 5th place roadblock? Schumi is now up to 10 and Montoya is dropping back (yipee) 3 secs behind Fisi.Alonso in pits from P2 - comes back out to P5. Going back to the tv. Carol
It all depends if I get done with my work here in UAE. Taking a day off on Sunday does not help my cause. Here the weekend is Friday/ Saturday. Alonso pits... Kimi has this race wrapped up... unless the engine goes boom again!
What the HELL was WEBBER thinking? what a dumb ass - he's down a lap and acts like a dumbass and hits MS. Carol
Contact between Webber and Shumi! Hey, looks like Shumi is changing tires? I thought you could only change 1 tire per stop?
MS into the garage - he did a wonderful race coming from end to 10 but what goes around comes around and Webber will get his turn - dumb ass. John and I will be in Spa - just wondering if you were going to be there. Carol Webber is currently showing -2 laps and in last place - why didn't he give way to the faster car (MS) and let him by - I would have blue flagged him. YES, Webber retires!! as the old saying goes - "what goes around, comes around"!!!!!
I will know by the end of the month if I can return back to Europe. Just depends on work. WEBBER!!! SPUN! You were right... what goes around comes around! THE END OF WEBBER'S RACE! Montoya has fuel rig issues! This race is entertaining!
Shumi retires! Boy, looking at the replays, Shumi just cut down on him. I don't put that on Webber. Its a move Shumi is famous for, cutting in VERY late in the corner to get the other guy to lift. This time, Webber didn't lift. As I was getting at when MS and MW made contact, I was noticing the sponsorships this weekend. No tobacco sponsors, including Ferrari. Renault is running the "Telefonica", BAR is running "Honda", , McLaren is just blank, using the "Kimi" and "Juan" side graphics, and Ferrari is running the black stripes with blank wing. Haven't seen the other tobacco cars, though. Looks like they have decided to follow that goofy EU rule. I thought McLaren was supposed to have Johnny Walker or soemthing on the cars this weekend? Their blank? Webber off with ANOTHER right rear tire down? Boy, whats up with these tires?
I must be watching a different race than you guys. Webber had the faster car, MS left the door open and Webber took the inside line. He had at least one front wheel past the rear wheel of MS's car (practically even). MS didn't give Webber the required racing room. Webber had his left front wheel on the apex/rumble strip (as opposed to having to take a wheel off the track surface to make the pass). Probably not a wise move on Webber's part being a lap down but there is nothing in the rules that says a faster car one lap down CANNOT pass a 7 time world champion. MS simply didn't want to yield and turned into Webber. Maybe he didn't know Webber was a lap down as Varsha commeneted but in either case it was a dumb move for either driver. Regards, Jon P.
