It is official: http://www.usgpe.com/news/us-f1-team-announces-jose-maria-lopez-as-driver-for-2010-season.html
I am sure they have their challenges, but it is looking better by the day now. I sincerely hope that US F1 will make it to the grid in Bahrain. I think it is time for people to stop referring to this as a possible scam - even if they should eventually fail, I think it is clear by now that their intentions are sincere.
So it may take a while for us to get a completely US only team but I think this is a great start! Because F1 is so popular in Argentina - do you think we might see sponsors from there?
Great news! I expected us to be back of the grid, just don't want to embarrass ourselves. I think adding Ken Anderson as Team Manager was HUGE. Great guy with plenty of F1 experience. I am getting pretty amped! GO USF1!!! MB
Teams start testing in 6 days... how are they ever going to complete a car and get ANY seat time in it at all? I wish them all the best but I hope for them that bernie doesn't reintroduce the 107% rule. Would add for good comedy though.
it was obviously sarcastic, or idiotic. either way clearly not representative. your response does sum up the critics though.
My Autoweek dated 1/25 says they will test at Barber 3 times before the official F1 testing in February. Time's running short for that.
The identity of Lopez's team-mate for 2010 is unknown at present, but with the team understood to be in financial strife their next driver will also need to bring with him significant backing to the team. López's confirmation means there are just three remaining seats on the 2010 grid, each one at Renault, Campos and USF1. Carol
would have made more sense to take the biggest cash grab from Petrov and give ALL of it to Heidfeld. For a serious attempt IMO. one reasonable pay driver with an experienced one. But put me down, I AM a detractor and always will be, even after the crow dinner.
I thought the test days at Barber were 02/17; the final crash test was a few days before that. A number of teams are going to miss the first test session, including Red Bull.
Now the feathers HAVE to go! What wine will be best? That 'whine' from all you when the house of cards comes a crashing down? Just a few more days and we can talk about real cars, drivers, testing......
Just to give a clue to the possibilities, http://www.crash.net/f1/video/156293/1/new_usf1_signing_lpezs_first_f1_tests.html
