OffTopicChat?

Lately there have been a few threads about eliminating Off Topic from FerrariChat. Off Topic is major part of F-chat, in fact there are as many posts in OT as there are in the General Forums. Other Off Topic has the most posts of any individual catagory.

Instead of eliminating it, why not just split it off to another website linked together with F-chat? Given the highly conservative slant of most posters, think of all the potential advertisers on the P&R section: RNC, NRA, Fox news, etc.

Along with this new site, maybe the posting rules could also be different than F-chat.
1) All personal information would have to be filled out in a verifiable way, although it would not have to be visible in your public profile.
2) Rotating moderators, 1 month on, 1 month off. Moderators would be elected once per year. There should also be a procedure to impeach moderators in extreme cases also.
3) No permanent banning, the longest anyone could be banned was 7 days.
4) When someone quotes a poster on your Ignore List, the quotes are also not visible to you. If the ignored poster tries to quote you, he receives a message that you have him on your Ignore List. Even better would be to have your Ignore and Buddy lists visible in your profile.
5) Of course the same rules about threatening, harrassing, vulgarity, etc would be in place, but actually enforced equally as well.

Well, there is offtopic.net - and the verification procoess & banning limitations is zilch. Advertising wouldn't be funded as the same target market. And as an observation, most forums out there with an OT section will have more posts/views in the OT section than any other section. Unfortunately it is just how forums evolve.

If the measure is to prevent or divide up OT from Fchat, then it will be difficult to do.

 

i say leave Off Topc alone. if ya dont like the content, then stay out. glad i saw this, i was not aware there was an effort bieng made to get rid of it. make subscriptions mandatory. that will solve many of the troll problems and call into the question those who are not legit.

 

what talk of getting rid of off topic. it cant be done, your right it is a very popular forum on here.

 

I say we add an anything goes *NWS* thread. Kind of like the Bikini thread but riskier but with of lude photos & jokes. I was thing of a disclaimer of something like this. "Warning: not work safe content* Beautiful girl pics, sexuality, morality topics only."

About time you upgraded to a Rossa subsciption

 

IMHO:

1. Leave it alone.

2. If #1 is not acceptable, move it to Silver.

 

we have a secret thread in Rossa. anything goes. been too busy driving the 308 for a change to add much to the girlie threads. i will add to them later this week.

 

Aw man, don't move it to silver. Off Topic is one of the reasons I come to F-Chat.
