I need some input here. Just bought an 01 360 Spider with a clear us title with no sign of it being a Euro spec model. Just found out 2 days after I bought it and confronted the dealer and requested a refund. Dealer says due to the age the fact that it is a Euro car does not hurt the value. I do intend on selling it some time down the road for a newer one. Am I screwed or does it really not make a difference??

What's the vin? It may hurt the value but that depends on what you paid for the car. If the car was misrepresented by the dealer you should get your money back.

I agree the dealer should give me a refund. I paid 78k and the car has 17k on it. Yellow car, 6spd, challenge grill, and scuderia badges. New clutch and belts. Still think 78k is way too high for it being a euro model.

Are you sure it is Euro? Did you check the VIN? I went through a huge run-around with my Insurance company (State Farm) a few months ago when I bought my '99 360.

The Underwriter claimed it was a "gray market car". They were full of crap, as the VIN and several places on the car said it was a US market car. The only way I finally resolved it was to talk to the previous owner and get his insurance info. Fortunately he also had used State Farm, so his agent was able to set the underwriter straight.

If it was misrepresented demand the car be returned. Yes, some would say that selling a "euro" is harder. The flip side, Euro models like most '99 360's do not have pre-cats.
Prices seem to be every where so, yea, maybe you over paid by a few grand given the miles and Euro factor.

Yes I am sure. I called a Ferrari dealer today and they confirmed it for me. So is it going to be that tough to turn it when I am ready to upgrade it?? I just have this sick feeling I paid too much.

I agree with what others have said... Sounds like it was misrepresented by the dealer. They should offer a refund...

Well this is not the first or last mistake I make when it comes to buying a Ferrari!! I should have done more research before I pulled the trigger. When you see a Yellow Spider all you can think about doing it is driving it home!

I paid these guys with a cashiers check and if they don't want to refund the car I am not sure how to MAKE them do it. I am sure getting an attorney involved will be a wash on the money I spend vs what I might lose if I sell the car at a cheaper price down the road. Oh well at least it is a killer looking car.

If it was misrepresented, the buyer should be offered a refund.

Did they state the car was a Euro prior the purchase?

Your profile is blank so I have no idea where you are. In California there are a couple of state agencies that can help.

It is a simple case of non disclosure of an important fact about the car. You should unwind the deal.

It is a very easy situation to avoid. A US and a non us model are very easy to distinguish. The guy doing the PPI should catch that.

You are wrong on the paid too much. That was/is a steal. Plus you do not have the pre-cats if its a euro... that right there may one day save you $20,000

Sounds like you got one helluva deal, post pics...

Euro on the 360 does not make that much difference $$$$ wise... crash history would. So if no accidents & service done- enjoy her.
I would also say replace the shift bushing, that will fix your 1-2 shift anomalies most likely..

show me another 2001 spider with above options & miles (plus major service) for 78K... Seriously, you are at the bottom on pricing- nowhere left to go.

    NEED PICS!!

It's tough to put a % price on a Euro vs. US, but there is no way a Euro is worth what a US car is in the US. Not for Ferrari or any other make. That said, my gut tells me (without researching) that the price paid is probably about right for a Euro Spider in good shape- maybe just a tad high, but it was through a dealer so there's markup and the new clutch is nice. It's not a steal, nor a totally bad price. A US car in the condition this car sound like- with clutch/service etc. would be in the low $90's at least I think (it's yellow so that may cost a few thousand vs. red, but I think it would be about low $90's if it were a US car and maybe $95K or so if red, relative to the $78K you paid).

Well guys I appreciate all this feedback. I am not sure if I should be less concerned or not based on everyones response. To the guys who said it was a steal, can I sell you a nice Yellow Spider?? I guess I need to not make such an issue about this car. It is after all a sweet looking Ferrari!

Does it have side reflectors on both front and rear bumpers? US 360's had them, although, it's possible new bumpers w/ the reflectors were retrofitted once it arrived here. VIN is likely the more accurate measure. If it is in fact a EURO model and it was not disclosed, get their local BBB or Attorney General's office involved.

Yes I am a dealer but don't specialize in selling Ferraris. Most of what I sell are Mercedes and other imports in the 20k range. I just like to have a nice high end car to drive for myself. Plus it doesn't hurt to have a nice Ferrari around to draw in traffic.

Nice looking car. It looks like US spec to me unless the bumpers were changed.

You should post a VIN. It could be a UAE car, which I understand were the same spec as US cars and therefore don't require federalization. I could be wrong about that however.
I don't think you over paid by too much at 78k.

Beautiful car! But I'm biased; mine looks just like it but with modulars. :) Enjoy it! :)

I am sure it is a euro car. The Ferrari dealer said it was imported from Germany and there is a sticker in the door that says it was produced by Ferrari but imported from some other company and it met all US requirements.

Definitely a euro but does it reality matter? Are you selling it next month or two? When these get 3-5 more years down the road the delta will be very small AND maybe even tip in favor of the euro.

Euro cars have some advantages: weight, HP, no pre-cats. The primary disadvantage is lack of warranty and no campaign coverage. Oh yea, the warranty was a 3 year warranty so that ran out LONG ago.

I would say that you got a good price and it was the car you wanted. Drive it and enjoy it. Down the road you won't have much of a penalty. Surely not enough to offset the hassle of forcing them to unwind the deal.
