I've searched and can't find an answer. Signed purchase agreement this morning on a car that has only one key. I accept that I must buy a key from the dealership. But, is there some "stand on your head while drinking a glass of water and rubbing your belly, open and close the door twice while turning the ignition on with the original key" procedure to program the replacement key myself? Or, can only the dealership program it?

Well, since you mimicked my recent new thread, and mockery is the best form of flattery, I'll oblige. You have to go to the dealer :)

Keys are crazy expensive. I misplaced mine and started using my spare last fall. Called dealer to inquire about a replacement...I think the quote was $1000 with FCA 10% discount, but before tax...so $1160 out the door. I figured I would keep looking for it...and three months later (last friday) it turned up in the bottom of my gun safe.

Sorry to steal your thread title style, but I previously asked about much discussed subject of Michelin tires. Sometimes things are discussed so much that a specific question is almost impossible to find by reading previous threads.

I had hoped that the key could be programmed without special equipment. I just purchased replacement key fobs for my wife's car and they could be programmed by the end user......oh well, another Ferrari tax.

Hi Phil, congrats on your new F430!

As others have already mentioned, the only legit place I know of to get replacement keys is the at the dealership.
And to program it they require you to show proof of ownership. AND, if your car is financed the dealership will also ask you to get permission from the bank / legal owner granting you permission to get a spare key.

I went through it on mine as I thought my spare key was toast. Someone here was kind enough to share with me that my key just got out of sequenced and just needs to be resynched with the car, and it worked! Saved me $1,100.00.

And yes, I dont know of anyone or heard of anyone that can program an F430 key other than the dealer.

    Hope that helps.
