It seems that when it comes to major service, as Rifledriver described, it gets downplayed and is not taken seriously....yet somebody won't think twice about any other service on the schedule (eg. oil change, gear oil change, coolant flush, etc). Regardless of cost, the proper way to maintain the vehicle is to follow the servcie schedule, and whether we like it or not, that is what we should do - and that does NOT exclude the belt/timing major service.

To each his own, but if somebody does not want to maintain properly, why even own a Ferrari?

That's part of the real cost of owning a Ferrari that many don't see. People picked up 3x8 for the price of a Honda Civic then unexpectedly face big bills to maintain the car, to many it's hard to come up the money since many 3x8 owners are just typical middle class. A friend told he can get my Ferrari for cheap on craiglist, I simply told him why don't you buy one and your wife will leave you faster than you think when she get to see those big bills and he thought these Rolex Submariners are expensive!
