probably you already do this, but if not try tightening the oil cap when it's hot (with gloves or a rag so as not to burn your hand). I've noticed on my 360M that if I screw it down cold then when it gets hot it all expands and gets loose. If I tighten it when hot then I don't get a problem. Anyway, could be worth a try...

the later strads (like mine) have a drilled cap with a spring clip to prevent this, my previous strad suffered the same problem as yours :) As someone has said, tighten when cold, not hot , this will cure it for definite.

nope, has to be running for about 15 mins 70c aprox. too hot and it will appear over filled, too cold and it will show under filled.

Its when hot. Think about it, it expands when hot, loosening it, if its tightened when hot, it cant "expand loose". Robs brain is pickled at the mo...he knows this too ;)

    You dumbass.....

Yes metal expands when hot............ which means you cant tighten it as much as it will go because its 'bigger'. When cold you can turn it further down its thread, which means when it gets hot it has absolutely no chance of loosening up. If you put it on when hot, the metal then contracts remdering it loose again....

Jeez....you been sniffin diesel or summat :)

I think you both should ask a grown up about this instead of bikkering with each other and letting everybody on here see how intelligent the mods on this site are
