    No, but there is plenty of evidence to indicate that old-style engines are suffering from wear and rebuilds due to the lowered ZDDP levels. These engines have cams shafts that directly scrub over tappets. Modern American engines do not have this kind camshaft to tappet rubbing; while Ferraris do.

    We have <several> 2 litre Porsche engines making 200 HP+ that went from 40 hour rebuilds to "not making it through a <single> practice session" with no change in parts, only a change from SL to SM oils. When we figured out that ZDDP was the culprit, the rebuilds went back to their <normal> 40 hour schedules.

    Are these typical street engines--no,
    But neither are Mid 1990 Ferrari engines and with ever more expensive and no-longer-available rebuild parts--everyone gets to take their own chances.

    I will add:: that if you simply drive your Ferrari on the street it probably does not mater, even a little back road friskiness probably doesn't mater, either. But when you do push the car on a track it starts to mater big-time.
