Just picked up a 89 Testarossa today. Had it flatbed home and when it was going up on the flatbed I noticed a good amount of oil on the right rear of engine leaking onto the trailer. Got home and saw oil on top of right rear motor mount nut. Looks like is leaking from above this area. Is this something serious? Pic attached.
    Thanks for any info.

It looks like the cam end cover plate gasket leaking or the cam cover gasket leaking. Hard to tell which one is at fault at this point in time.

If you're handy, see if you can nip up the nuts a little on that end cover plate. That may or may not seal up the leak. It could be a cam cover gasket leaking, both are common issues in most Ferraris as the paper gaskets go very hard over time and stop sealing.

After you nip the nuts up, be sure to clean off all the old oil. Check to see if there is plenty of engine oil in the tank, then start it up and check for leaks.

It's not serious, but you will want to sort sooner rather than later as that engine oil will eventually ruin the rubber in that engine mount and the engine mount will have to be replaced.

Not urgent, but don't leave it too long either mate.

Pap348, thxs for the advice. Tightened the four nuts up, they were not real tight but not loose either. Drove it a few miles and still leaking. Guess it must be the gasket.

Ok mate, see if you can get in there and tighten some nuts up on the cam cover itself. It may be the cam cover gasket leaking and the oil 'tracking' back long the bottom of the cover.

There isn't much room, but if you can try and nip up as many cam cover nuts on the top and the bottom as you can, you might be lucky to stop or slow down the leak until you replace those gaskets.

You only need to stop that engine oil leak until the engine comes out for it's major service. All those gaskets can be replaced then.

Pull the distributor cap. Could be the distributor seal.
