Just wanted to report back that it’s 'mission accomplished'! Last week I was able to remove sufficient oil to bring the quantity back in line with what it should be. It was a bit of messy procedure but I believe that has more to do with the suction pump that I used. It should be noted that I had to run the engine for a brief time to not only warm up the oil somewhat but also to get it to fill up the tank to the point that the tip of the hose would reach it. All in all it was not a difficult task and I drained about 90% of the quart I added (about 28 oz.) from the tank. After a short drive and with the oil up to temp, the level is sitting at about half way between the min and max points on the dipstick (with the car idling, of course!) Thanks to all for their info and feedback
