On my 82 Mondial, the red light on the pressure guage lights up intermittently. The needle reads OK and the dipstick shows plenty of oil (just had it changed). Is this likely a guage malfunction or is there something else to worry about?
    Thanks
    Sam

It's possible that the sensor in the oil tank is faulty.

Yes, sender malfunction or wiring problem -- the warning light always has +12V on one side (with key "on") and illuminates when the switch internal to the sender closes, which puts ground on the other side (and since yours is coming "on" erroneously that self-tests that the +12V is present, and that the bulb is good, so it must be problem on the "ground/sender" side) -- but isn't the pressure idiot-light sender on the oil filter mount? First thing to check is that the wire going to the sender is not chaffed somewhere in the engine bay and occasionally touching a ground -- if that seems OKish, then you're left with trying a new sender.

Are you talking about a pressure indicator light or level indicator light?

Low oil pressure is nothing to mess with. If you don't have a guage suitable for testing, I'd take it to a mechanic who will be able to verify whether you indeed have low pressure. If not, sending unit is likely.

Also, I thought there was an adjustment somewhere on the engine for pressure. Someone on this post might know something about that.
