    I've seen both discussed here.
    I've seen both being successful.

I used Hondabond before and seemed to not leak but if I can put it on dry... that would make things much easier as I am having a hard time working the sump cover back on (yes, the dipstick tube is out).

    Thanks all.

I am DEF going to go with a sealant.
    I used Threebond 1184 before.
    Seems to be fine.
Has there been any preferred gasket updates in the last few years?

    Thanks all!!

I like Permatex Ultra Black. Great for sealing oil.

There's your answer. Hondabond is great stuff and it worked for you before. Why change?

Klingersil gasket dry. No leaks. Prepared squeaky clean.

I remember it being a "thing" to buy since I had to source the international Threebond and I don't even recall how I even did that.

Four years ago when I changed my shift shaft seal, I've used the Threebond for the pan gasket and until now it hasn't leak a drop, and that's using synthetic oil too. I know Hondabond is good too.

    Another vote for Hondabond.
