Hey guys! Need help taking this part off my 86 TR because of a crack. How can I do this? My mechanic has little experience with Ferraris and there are no trustable shops down here.

I noticed nobody responded to your post. Unfortunately, I've yet to figure out how to post jpegs but in looking at the shots I took when I pulled my engine, the oil tank has a cut-out around the driver's side frame so there is no way to remove it without removing the engine first. If you send me a PM with your email address, I can send jpegs. There is a flat part on the tank where the fill is welded so oil spilled can dribble a long time. You can get more access to that area by removing the vented panel and painted panel behind the rear glass. If you are really desperate, you can remove the alternator (you have to loosen the driver side motor mount bolts, jack the motor on the drive side, to remove the long pivot for the alt-clears a water tube). Then you could at least see the oil tank from the top of the engine compartment. There are threaded fittings on the side of the tank that might need tightening and of course, copper seals on two(?) drains that could leak. Good luck!

Sounds like a good time to do a major service and tidy up the engine compartment.
