Just took the red head out for a short spin with the little time I had today. I still relativly new to the car. I prob drove the car about 6 miles after letting it warm up a little for about 10 min. It just got completely warm when I pulled back into the garage and the fans kicked on. I noticed my oil pressure temperature gauge was still right above 145 like it hadn't move. This is problably a stupid question, but how long should it take to get up to temperature? I know I didn't drive it very far, but I would think the oil would have warmed up more than that by then. Maybe i'm wrong. Also, i'm sure this has been asked before, but what kind of oil pressure do you guys have at a warm idle? Thanks for the help.

If it is cool weather it takes a very long time for my oil temp to rise past 145.. I think your in the normal range. The only time I saw my oil level really get hot was in 95 degree weather with major humidity. I think your o.k..

    Dear Ferraristi,

The fans that kicked on were the coolant fans. Your oil was still cool at 145. The oil cooler fans ( Testarossa only ) turn on at 210. With 15 Qts of oil, it takes time to really warm up. At this time of year mine gets to the middle of the 145 -210 mark. In the summer mine hits 210 all the time.....no issues, oil cooler fans turn on.

When I pull into the garage, I turn the engine off but leave the key on pos II until all the fans turn off.

My TR would rarely budge the oil temperature gauge. It would take a long time, and then it would barely reach 160-170 F. Car runs cool. Lots of heat dissipation (radiators) and thermal mass (engine and copious oil).
