I've emailed the the law advisor at my undergrad school, and I have read through a few books, and I have searched the web.

I'm wondering if there might be some knowledge on Ferrarichat about this that I have not found.

A brief explanation of what an admissions index number is, summarized from Richard Montauk's "How to Get Into the Top Law Schools".

Many schools use a formula to calculate an index number that they use in weeding through applicants. For instance, the University of Virginia (one of my top "realistic" choices) has recently used the following formula:

    (4.159 x Undergrad GPA) + (.24 x LSAT) + 2 = Index

They admit approximately one-third of out-of-state applicants with an index number of 57 (corresponds to a 3.65 GPA and a 166 LSAT).

MY QUESTION: Does anyone have any info on the index numbers that other prominent institutions use? I am trying to get the maximum value from each of my application fee dollars, and not waste my time applying to schools that will statistically eliminate me before even opening my file.

LSAC will send you every school's index (of those that use them) with your packet of stuff. Perhaps they don't mail it now, but have online access.
