A supplier in China gave me a DHL tracking number in which the delivery got screwed up. I went to DHL.com and tried to track the number. No luck. I called DHL and gave the lady in customer service my first name and phone number.....She gave ME the tracking number that I just tried to track on line!

If she entered the phone number into that field on their database screen, it should have pulled up all of your DHL transactions. not that scary.

If you want scared, talk to someone in the legal field and have them run your name through LexisNexis...

Is LexisNexis for legal stuff different from the LexisNexis that you can access at Universities?

I think at universities you normally only get their news and business databases. Law students get free access to get you hooked on the law database. Then, when you're a lawyer, and you only know how to do online research, it costs an extreme amount of money - subscriptions run in the tens of thousands per month, and then you're still billed $1-30 per search depending on the database, and then per document you print, etc (which is passed on to the client).

Or scarier yet, get a letter from Lexis Nexis saying that your personal information has been stolen from their database. Yehaw.

Not as far as I know. I had never heard of them until I got the letter. They were generous enough though to pay for a year worth of credit monitoring. Big Frikin Deal!!

They own subsidiaries that track credit information. You can't have it removed. You're in Canada though, so it would be a different company. Maybe still owned by Reed Elsevier...
