Sw, I am with you on this one. I miss my 550. They are great cars. If I had more money and more garage space, it would be high on the list.

Someone please explain these sheilds to me!?! Is that the clear protective plastic/sheeting that is applied to the front to prevent rock chips?

Can you remove it or is it glued for life?

No, we're talking about the yellow crest on the front fender near the base of the A pillar (front roof pillar). They are an option, and they are fastened through 2 holes in the fender, and they sit in a recess in the fender, so you can't just put them on or take them off.

 

JP, the shields are right in front of the mirrors on the quarter panels, they are the ferrari Yellow logo.

 

Streetking, why did you get rid of your old 550? thats one of the nicest pictures of a 550 i have evcr seen. i think you should go for the one on ferrariads even if it does have the shields.

BTW, factory shields (i.e. stamped) look pretty darn good on 550s imho (especially red or blue 550s).

Yes, shields are something that grow on you, I think. I was looking at having them retro-fitted by a local body shop (countersunk ceramic) at a very good price. Tried a set of the plastic stick on ones first, initially thought they just looked silly. After awhile it grew on me, so decided to go ahead. In making this decision I pulled the plastic ones off, in preparation of taking the car in to get the job done but finally decided I didn't like the way they interrupt the lines of the car. So Streetking I'm on your side, black, no shields please!

 

I know this is a little off the subject, but is your Lightning lowered? It appears to be a 2/4 or 3/5 drop?

Besides that, absolutely lovely car! Words can't even describe it.
