OK, I'm totally hooked on Guitar Hero III. I need help!

I had to sell my xbox 360 because of that game, lol!

 

Love the game, I nearly had every song on GH1 beat and accidently erased the memory card!!

Guess, I'll just have to start over with GH3.

 

Haha, i just saw that episode at a friends house. You'll need to transition to 'Heroin Hero' to mellow out.

Agreed! Most innovative/fun party game you could imagine! GH is old news compared to RB... and I love guitar hero!!!

 

My son is playing "Welcome to the Jungle" on it right now...

 

I LOVE IT! I'm in the same boat: I play guitar and have for years, and I'm lead so I have good finger speed.

I thought the game looked so stupid, seeing the kids in Walmart playing with the little fake guitars, STUPID.

I'm a twin, and my brother is the rhythm in our band. Our bass player bought GH2 and two controllers for our birthday, and it was lights out after that! I got GH3 with my Xmas Best Buy gift certificates.

The best way to get better, just like real guitar, is to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE! The tutorials should really help with the tapping. Get used to tapping, also - when there is no black circle around the notes, you can "hammer on" or "pull off." It's becomes necessary at any level past medium.

Black Magic Woman is a tough song because the guitar is often not picking in tempo. Hardest song in the game (in that respect anyway ).

My girlfriend and I play drinking games with it, and she's up to Hard and even Expert on some songs(on GH2 anyway, haven't tried expert on GH3).
I can score 95+% on most songs on Hard, but haven't gotten to the end yet so I haven't tried expert on GH3.
They got this one right though: previous versions had some terrible singers covering the lyrics - now the original singers are used in most of the songs on GH3.

To get better: Forget about Black Magic Woman, it's just a tough song. Songs you know are always easier, and practice. If you're on medium, go through the game on medium, that will prep you to try hard.

If you're a musician, it's great tool for tackling rhythm problems, coordination, and finger dexterity. it's not for everyone; I have seen plenty of people try it and give up immediately....
Like I said before, it looked so goofy to me, until I played it. It's a lot of fun if you don't let video games ruin your day.

 

+1. I tried Rock Band at a friends house, freaking addictive. Tried to play Wont Get Fooled Again on Expert with the drums. Keith Moon was a freaking beast, I have huge respect for him. I couldnt do it.

 

when i was cat sitting for my sister while she was out of town, i got to play gh2. her bf left it over, and i've gotta say, i didn't put that down whenever i was over there. i mastered sweet child o' mine on easy, but i couldn't get a single song on medium or above, that 4th note kept screwing me up.

 

are you serious? my friend had to do that to, he got hooked on the game so bad he was getting to work late and getting 4 hours a sleep each night, good thing he was only 19 at the time, he could of screwed his life over!, i have xbox 360 my self, its a fun system but i wanted to play this game but i wont take the risk, its like starting to smoke.

 

I was trying to think of a fun game that the g/f and I could play and almost picked up GH/RB today. This thread makes me glad I went with Call of Duty instead.

I watched a guy hit 97% accuracy on one of the GH3 songs on Expert! It was unbelievable and the song was LONG. There was a crowd standing around mesmerized. I couldn't even follow the 'notes' they were coming so fast.
