It's official! I am now a Ferrari owner. Ronnie, you know this car well. As this was your 360 spider. Do you know if the trickle charger, and the floor mates came with the car? LOL! Here are the details: 02 spider, red/tan, 12k miles, daytona, shields, grill, red caliper, Tubi. Car is in very good condition, with some minor wear on the driver's seats, and normal rock chips and one small door ding. Picked the car up today from Auto gallery, actually it was quit an interesting experience as a first time Ferrari owner. After I signed all the paper work, David Barr was showing me all the functions of the spider. We closed the top and then we opened it, it got stuck! And then there was a strong fuel smell from the car, smelled like it was leaking gasoline. So I drove the car to the Auto Gallery's service center in Canoga park, they immediately cut me in line and took a look at the top problem. Had me fixed in about 1 hours (microswitch out of position), but I do have to bring the car back to replace the dried out rubber seal suppose to prevent gas from coming out of the gas tank in an event of a roll over (that's where the fuel vapor smell is from, supposely a ten hour job). But they will take care of all the cost associated with the repair. In any case, I drove all the way home from Woodland hills to Chino hills with the top down. Now I have a huge headache and a bald spot is appearing on my head. But you know what? THIS IS ONE AWESOME CAR! I LOVE IT!!!! Just love it!!!! Sweet is just not the word to describe it! Congrats! I've seen this car around for the last couple of years and it's a great car. Drive it in good health. You'll need to come out to some future event so Ronnie can visit.
A big congrats from me and here is wishing for you the best of luck and many hours of fun driving. I was at Auto Gallery about 30 minutes after you left this afternoon and Dave and Obi told me about the sale. If you have any questions anytime at all please feel free to PM me. You bought a fabulous car. As to the gas smell, when filling the car put the nozzle on the slowest speed, and when it clicks off, don't fill it further. Then really tighten down that gas cap! The only other advice I can offer is when starting the car in the morning, let it idle for at lease 3 minutes, then do not go over 3500-4000 rpms until your oil temp hits 160-170. Change your oil every 4-5k, and you will have many years of trouble free driving! Finally, don't you love the sound of that Tubi NGT exhaust!!!
Ronnie, Thank you for taking great care of this spider, the car is in great shape. The people at the Gallery were exceptional, I was in and out in 30 minutes, except the top issue that got me stuck at the service center for about 1 hour, but Steve the mechanic were great, fixed her right up in no time. I haven't smelled the gasoline smell since, I wonder if it was just from an over fill. Sorry I missed you, I really wished I would have met you in person. I have heard many great things about you from the guys at the Gallery. I certainly will look you up on my future travel plans. LOL! I do have some questions about the car, which I will PM you about. Nothing major, just some small details. Again, THANK YOU!!! P.S. The Tubo NGT was great, just didn't care for the back fire and the poping sound when you let off the throttle.
I used to get the gas smell after filling until I stopped overfilling and tightning down the gas cap so vapors could not escape. I absoulutely loved the burbling sound of the exhaust when letting off of the gas. Finally, I am happy to hear that your experience at Auto Gallery was enjoyable. Chuck and Max at the service department are real pros that do their best to take care of their clients' problems, and Obi, Dave and the sales staff are very straightforward and, in my opinion, very honest. I have been dealing with AG and their service department for years with zero problems.
Congratulations on a truly beautiful car. You probably live closest to me on here. Unfortunately, I'm still looking for mine. But hope to have a little drive around the neighborhood someday.
Exact options and color as my 360 spider...great car...you will love it......... the tubi is the icing on the cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks guys, I have about 50 replies from the Porsche guys on the Porsche forum. They are jealous. LOL! But honestly Porsche 911s are great cars, they take me to work and home everyday, park anywhere very little attention needed. Thanks!
Congrats, My friends and I shall take our cars out for a spin this coming Sunday morning. Want to join us? David Kuo
congratulations! 6-speed is the only way to go ;-) welcome to the club! I bought my first back in November. Too bad for northeast weather otherwise I'd be driving! Till March!
