Seems like 9 out of 10 posts here that link to a video on YouTube turn out to be videos that are hosted in either better resolution or at least higher image quality on another site. Most every one of 'em has the name of the original site embossed on the video image anyway - so why doesn't anyone ever link to the original media?

Maybe it is just me, but YouTube hosted videos look like sh|t on my system & I also don't have any particular inclination to help Google pull in any more $$$. Guess I'm just holding a grudge from when they bought dejanews & dropped a bunch of archives.

For me, YouTube's a fun idea and I check it regularly, it's culture surfing in a way. I have no loyalty to it - or google - at all; nothing against either, I use and enjoy both, but if something else that seemed better came along I'd move on and never look back. I don't at all understand the valuations achieved by these companies.

You tube vids look like junk, but everything's in one place. If you're just throwing out a quick link for a joke or an OMGWTF, why search everywhere when you can just enter a few keywords in youtube?
