Here in Baton Rouge it looks like we have escaped the worst of the storm. Kelly it looks like Pearl River is in the bullseye.
Anyone need help??? We are in Houston....... 713 681-7339. Ask for x.139...... Candle in the window, for ya!!!
i'm glad you guys are okay... Anyone hear from Dave Goldman, Richard Thompson, John Houghtaling, Franco Valobra, etcetera...?
No word on Dave, he stayed. I spoke on the phone with Richard the day before the hurricane and tried to convince him to leave and catch up with me, but he was set on holding up in the Poydras Center building downtown with his Father. Tried to explain that power would be out forever, but he refused to leave his Father. Can't and won't judge him for that. Being that he was in a rather large and tall building he is most assuredly just fine. Franco, talked to him Friday night at the opening of a new club in New Orleans owned by another local Fcar guy. No clue what he did. John H., no clue. Everyone else who posts online here got out of harm's way, I believe One HUGE problem is that even though I am in Texas now, my cell phone is a 504 number based obviously in New Orleans. So everytime I try to make a call to another evacuated person with the same 504 area code I can't. I get this bull**** "because of the hurricane" message. I certainly hope that the cell companies re-route our calls around the 504 based network so we can take and receive calls to each other.
Is that the guy with the 355 with theultimateclub.com or something like that on there? I've been trying to call my dad, his gf, my mom, my sister, friends with no luck because they're all 985 or 504 numbers. I've been trying for the past day with no luck. The only person whom I was able to get in contact with was a friend at school and she said her caller ID showed private caller. I can't imagine that the phone companies can't do a little computer magic for the time being and figure out a way to reroute calls.
Yes, that is Joe Mogan. He has a 355 spyder and Berlinetta. I have not heard whether or not he left. I do know that some local Fcar guys(not sure who), stored their cars in highrise building. Im sure they are working on it, its just so frustrating.
I stopped by a Verizon store to see what I could do to about getting in touch with people and they said that nothing is going to change until authorities let them in to Covington and New Olreans to change the settings on the switches; it's not a computer thing. They said if you're able to that they recommend for the time being have your phone changed to another area code if you can let others know the new number.
John is in Florida, nothing yet on Franco... Still no word on Richard or Dave Goldman... i tried calling Dan earlier but - surprise, surprise - busy signal...
Some interesting news that I've accumulated recently: -According to someone from Cleco, it will be 4 weeks until the NS, more specifically Mandeville, gets electricity due to devistation of infrastructure and substations. -The National Guard has ordered another 80,000 body bags -The breach in the 17th St. Canal was over 2 blocks long and growing (as of ~10 pm). Authorities are now concerned about water going from N.O. to Jefferson Parish It looks grim. I hope the best out of this
I doubt the legitimacy of this development. Please post where you have come across this info. While there are many who have not made it through this situation, there is no way that the toll will be in the tens of thousands.
My dad's "government liaison" who is a man who works very closely with city and state government officials. I have seen his connections and it's pretty impressive to see the strings that he can pull.
They won't need that many, recall there are gators, and the sharks will help, off shore of the beachfront developments of Biloxi..... I am very concerned about my friend Dave Goldman, can anyone offer me some encouragement about the location of his new home. It was only recently completed, and I understand he stayed in it....... The Slidell side of the Lake appears to be very heavily impacted..........
This is correct unless he snuck out at the last minute. I have been to his new house and I hear that his area had extreme flooding. Luckily his house is taller than the flood waters, so if he did indeed stay he very well might have been with the huge group of people taken to the superdome by rescuers. On a much brighter note, I just saw that Richard Thompson was on Instant Messanger earlier and has a new away message. He must be safe and out of the city by now!
Dave can come to my house......... Daaaaaaaaaaaaaave!!!!!!! My understanding is only the refugees are in the Superdome. I guess anyone safe for the time being, can stay?????? Did he have enough supplies?? Generator????
UPDATE !!!!!!! UPDATE!!!!!!!!! UPDATE!!!!!!!!! Just spoke with Richard Thompson on the phone......Area Code 504, no less! He is out of the City, and safe. He sounded real tired though and said it was hard to see, what had happened down in his area. He did try to get to Dave Goldman's house but was turned back by Law Enforcement........ Chin Up! Guys!!!! We are thinking about ya! Never argue with Law Enforcement. They are our friends and have a very tough job to handle, right now.
No clue about his supplies. But originally 10,000 people were evacuated to the Superdome before the hurricane hit. There are now 30,000 in the Superdome post hurricane. Rescue operators have been dropping off people there non-stop.
